Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread

"It's going to take all of us together," Randle El said. "I was excited that Brandon came in and caught a pass. Same thing with Keenan--he came right in and he had two big catches to help us move the ball downfield."

I thought this was pretty interesting. Randle is a pretty class guy so he might just be suportive no matter what, but it seems he almost has hopes for Lloyd

Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread

Guys the reality of the situation is we are going to keep him for a while because of salary cap implications. Also he does have talent.

Because of those two facts I think you must give him more chances and hope he does well. Again I don't think he should get countless chances. But like last game, give him a couple easy plays to run, and then progress. If there is no improvement, then leave it as it is.

I think it's nice to see the crowd and players support Brandon like that. It shows that we are willing and patient and we still want him to contribute and be a positive member of the team. I'm not saying we need to put him back in as a #2 or anything along those lines, just that give him a couple more touches a game.

I think they just need to put his ass in the game and throw him the damn ball. He can't do anything is he's not in the game.

Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread

He got those nine yards by breaking a tackle at the line and about five yards past scrimage and with his effort he got 9 yards with no blocking help. I'm not sure what the problem is with BL but his effort on that play was a question.

Freddy just made the best point in the thread. Just because we gave him money doesen't mean he is going to preform for us. He caught one ball and had a 2nd effort and picked up more yards. If the coaches think he should play then he should play, if not then keep him on the bench. Don't fix it if it ain't broke and right now I believe our record is 3-1.

Problem is, RandleEl and Moss have both been "broke" over the past few weeks and we need to develop our other receivers. I'm not saying to make Lloyd the number one receiver, but I think they should try to throw at least five passes to the guy in a game situation to better see what we have.

The coaches have seen plenty - he's had over a year to show them, including over a dozen starts last year. That's what practice is for, players earn their jobs & lose them there.

As I noted earlier on this thread, throwing to a reciever can bring serious repercussions if the wr doesn't run the route correctly & doesn't go after the ball. All accounts of loyd indicate he can't be trusted. I remember seeing a pissed off look on Brunell's face last year after he threw to Loyd.
Remember the game last year when Loyd didn't go back for a long ball & Saunders thought he'd lost it in the lights? Loyd later said it was too far behind him to go after.

Remember JC's first pass as a pro & he hit Loyd right on the hands but he dropped it? Remember our 1st game against Miami & the pick in the end zone?

We all cheered at the bar too...1 catch can be the start of good things for him and the Skins but I'm highly skeptical.

I think the "cheering" was more like the combined sarcasm of 90 thousand plus. I know it was at my house. Not so much way to go as "Congratulations, you finally caught a pass this year... and it's week 5."

That was some of it - the other part was when you are up two scores and your fifth receiver gets into it, there's a wave of confidence that flows over you. You think "if this guy's rolling over you, you ain't comin' back, Lions."
