Yeah, it definitely sucks for the Raiders the way they lost that game. I would like to see a rule change that says you can't call timeout with less than 10 on the play clock unless your on offense. There's probably some flaws with that idea but it would work.

But you see this is the whole point of the argument. Gibbs is not an sh*thead, and would not do something like this.

For those of you who didn't see the game, what Shanahan did was specifically wait until the ball was snapped to take a timeout specifically to delay the inevitable. I don't believe for a second that he gained any competitive advantage from this move, but the idea was to look be a complete jackass.

This was not icing the kicker because the teams were set for like ten seconds before the snap was taken. I don't believe icing the kicker does anything anyway, but those who believe it can be used to make the kicker think about his kick will take it as soon as the teams are set. Obviously, if Shanahan believed in icing the kicker, he would have taken his timeout sooned than he did.

Anyway, this was the last straw in watching the game for me, because I had just spent the past 3 hours watching him bitch, whine, and abuse the challenge policy (challenging the spot of a safety? what the f?!).

Ultimately, the officials have to shoulder the responsibility for the outcome of this game because the rules are clear on how timeout requests are allowed to be granted. Just because John Lynch walks on to the field at the snap to call a timeout does not mean they shouldn't get 12 men called on them. Have some balls and tell old Mike where to stick it. Don't allow his desire to make a grade-A ***hole of himself in front of Al Davis change the outcome of a game.

The current rule already states that a timeout can not be granted after the snap. That's good enough for me as long as the officials have the balls to administer it.

So HGH is ok because it doesnt get tested for......and dogfighting is ok cause it's a cultural thing. It's called morals and fair play...which the redskins always play by.

Both HGH (I Think) and dog fighting are illegal so they are not very good examples. So the Skins have never called a timeout to ice a kicker?

What a lack of vision!!!!! The only thing you can think of is stealing a lousy 3 points from the Eagles? Why stop at 3 points and try and throw the game for the Skins. Just do a "Kerrigan". It was perfected right here in Detroit. Just get a guy or two in Philly cop uniforms to get on the sidelines or in the tunnel for pregame warmups and whack MCNabb in the knee a dozen times with their nightsticks. Job done. Philly will tank and it will be between us and the Cowboys for the NFC East and probably the Conference.

Thats a good point but maybe as he is getting out of his car. If you wait until he is in the tunnel he would be surrounded by 40 some guys in pads and weighing between 190 to 340 pounds wanting to kill ya.

Re: How to Steal 3 Points from the Eagles

New Rule, if you don't call time out 6 seconds before the ball is snapped during a field goal attempt by the opposing team you're penalized 5 yards and the other team is given the chance to re-kick.

Note: This rule applies only if the field goal ends the game.

Yeah but he might not be with the entire team for say pregame warmups and it would be a hit and run like kerrigan was. Plus if you are packing are they really going to try anything?

Re: How to Steal 3 Points from the Eagles

Ask Andy Reid how effective "Icing the kicker" is today! LOL.....that was awesome.

Again, Shanahan did not ice the kicker. He made the kicker rekick a 52 yard kick after the team thought they had just won the game. Sure, Shank could have missed it, but how can you claim it wasn't a competitive advantage when it took 3 points and a "W" off the board? The NFL needs to put a stop to this immediately. I won't stand for this happening to our team and, as said, we have too much class to pull that crap on the field ourselves.

Well it was done to us so we just sent the O back out and went for the TD instead of the FG.

I'm not even sure if he was icing the kicker, maybe there was a personnel problem like we had. The kick wasn't long at all maybe 37 yards at the most.
