He was celebrating a "win" over the Seahawks (in overtime?), but Jay Feely shanked the kick and they eventually went on to lose the game. (As I remember it)

Frankly I don't care,I want Coughlin gone ,we will either get Cowher or Fox from what I've been told,it will also be the last for Tommer (I like him) and Strahan and for a few other maybe so we will start anew in 08.Yes I think they can win now the talent is there...just not the coaching.

You don't think that The Lesser Manning's 54.1 completion percentage has anything to do with the team's losing?
Is that just a coaching problem?

Coaching without a question .They have been telling him to throw hi to Burass and all the recievers..."over throw don't under throw".His #'s are still pretty good but this has to be his year or they must look else where.Same with Shockry.......stay healthy or pack up.

Re: What's Portis think of Vick Now?

Portis' comments were really dumb, no doubt, but at least they were made early on in this whole thing before he really had a chance to think about what he might say if someone asked him his thoughts on dogfighting.
However, Emmitt Smith has had weeks to think about all the crap surrounding this case and he's now a member of the sports media so he should probably be prepared to speak on the subject if and when he's asked. Apparently he didn't spend much time thinking about what he might say (this is from Peter King):
Quote:
Quote of the Week II
"He's the biggest fish in the whole doggone pond right now, so they're putting the squeeze on him [Vick] to get to everyone else. Now, granted he might have been to a dogfight a time or two, maybe five times, maybe 20 times, may have bet some money, but he's not the one you're after. He's just the one who's going to take the fall -- publicly.''
-- All-time NFL rushing leader Emmitt Smith, speaking Saturday at his enshrinement in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Two issues here.

1. Nice to see Emmitt knows so much about the federal government's case. Didn't anyone ever tell him, "When there's an important issue out there, give an educated opinion if you have a good idea what you're talking about. If you're not sure what you're talking about, the only thing you can do by opening your mouth is look like you're 11 years old.''

2. It sounds very much like Smith empathizes with Vick's plight and doesn't find it very objectionable that Vick might have put a few bucks down on dogfights. Is he serious? Is there anything justifiable about Vick going to a single dogfight, or gambling a dime on a dogfight? Should the feds, once they had evidence from four corroborating witnesses that placed Vick in the middle of one dogfight after another, have ignored the evidence and not gone after him?

I have a bad feeling about Smith's tenure at ESPN, and it hasn't even started. His comments on Vick are so idiotic and inappropriate that a few people at the Worldwide Leader have to be thinking, "Uh-oh. What if we've gone and hired someone who's very famous but not very smart?''
Just remember this for the next time some Cowboys fan tries to give you shit over what Portis said.

Why aren't people jumping all over Smith's comments? He sounds almost as dumb as Portis did.

What's even dumber, IMO, is that Smith said this stuff this past weekend which means that he's had a chance to read about the electrocutions, the corroborating witnesses placing Vick at fights for years, Vick's high level of involvement etc. At least Portis was just shooting off at the mouth before there was a whole lot of info out there.

Hell, aside from the fact that Smith doesn't seem to think dog fighting is a big deal, what about the complete lack of logic in his statement?
"Now, granted he might have been to a dogfight a time or two, maybe five times, maybe 20 times, may have bet some money, but he's not the one you're after. He's just the one who's going to take the fall -- publicly.''
He's not the one you're [the feds] are after? Really? He's not the one who owned the property where the 60+ dogs were found? He's not the one who was allegedly betting thousands of dollars on fights? He was just an innocent spectator who was simply at a dogfight a time or two, or five, or twenty?
He's just being set up because he's famous and everyone knows that cops hate famous people.
Good job Emmitt, I can't wait to watch you make an ass out of yourself on TV week after week.

Yeah good points AMD, when Portis made his comments we really didn't know what was going on exactly and the extent of Vick's possible involvement.

I hope they give up on Vick...so he can hand off to CPO in his Skins uni...I have never seen one human treated so unfairly....They are pits not poddles. UFC is ok! Hell football is more violent than dog fighting. Bullfighting, boxing, cock fights, horse racing, WAR, is that stuff is cool right. Give me break. I love dogs and I still KNOW Mike is a good person.

A couple of things:
1) People don't routinely die in the UFC or the NFL.
2) Cock fighting is illegal is most places, and I think bullfighting is illegal in the US.
3) War is not a sport and people rarely gamble on it.
4) Do you know Mike Vick personally? How do you know he's a good person? Has he ever flipped you off? Has he ever knowingly given you an STD?
5) What has Vick done in the NFL that would make you want him on the Redskins? I'd rather not have a QB with that low of a completion percentage, even if he is fast.

I could go on but you've given me a headache.
