actually.... colleges get paid by attendance, not academic success. Some people need a year to figure out college isn't for them, and the colleges are more than willing to accept that money.

not to mention team sports' revenue to the school, the members of which do not always have the best academic standings. But i agree, the SAT only truly measures how well you can take the SAT (this coming from someone who did very well on it)...

I'm pretty sure he wont be in camp on time. However, I'm not even close to ready to write this kid off yet. I mean for the love of god, he didnt do anything wrong.

He Was Definitely The Right Pick, He Is Going To Be Amazing I Just Hope Its With Us, Because I Didnt Think He Looked To Happy To Be A Redskin Either When He Got Drafted. I'm Willing To Let All This Petty Crap Pass Though Its All Minor Not Major.

The question is when does he start to become the wrong pick when he hasn't turned up for the second week of camp , third first week of the season when ? Yes Iwas 21 once but Taylors behaviour is not showing him up as a person of high charater...

well, right now I think everyone here is a bit nervous about it, but until he misses the second week of training camp I don't think people will be screaming.

Well I think our bigger concern is that he has yet to sign with an agent, unless he has and we just don't know it.

No other early picks have signed yet although I hear that Gallery might be signing this week so other contracts might start to fall into place soon after that.

Just so you guys know, in all the discussion we had prior to the draft, I never once said anythign about Taylors off the field intelligence. If anything KWII is a smarter person. But on the field is what counts, so hopefully we just get him on the field and hope that during his LONG career as a skin he only gets fines and not suspensions.

Drafting S. Taylor is not all about his Wonderlic score.

That score, as has been stated, is just one indicator as to a player's capabilities. It would be interesting to see some sample questions from the Wonderlic Test given to all potential NFL entrants.

Maturity is strange. In looking at my SATs from 34 years ago, I never thought I would be where I'm at today. People grow into their capabilities. Players play up to theirs!

S. Taylor's job is not all about what he does on a test. It is about what he does on the FB field. He will be fine. We will know how he will do after a couple of PS games. I've said he will hold out 1-2 weeks, but that doesn't mean I'm worried. That is the nature of the business side of the NFL. Every year there are holdouts, until players, and the teams that drafted them in the first few rounds figure out their "slotted" position, and what their salary should be.

When I made the comment about the wonderlik, that is exactly the point I was making, his off the field problem's I think, are a product of him not really paying attention to detail, and not being all that bright, but it's his on field prowess, that makes him a genious, wonderlik may be able to gauge a person's over all intelligence, but it can't measure football smart's, Im really not worried about the kid, I think he will be fine.

To much is being read into S. Taylor's reaction after his selection in the draft. You can attribute it to his not being picked first. After all he was rated as the the 1st or 2nd best pure athlete in the draft. There were rumors he might go higher. It is usually not a good idea to try and guess what another person is thinking. You usually will guess wrong.
I know there is not much football news to talk about at this time of year and some are getting nervous about S. Taylor. However it is still way to early to regret drafting him. I realize S. Taylor does not have an agent, but I never understood why all NFL teams and players wait so long to start negotiations on rookie contracts? The draft is in May. Why wait until July to get them signed? Then blame the player in the media for any holdouts.

Here's a sample of the wonderlic. Keep in mind players are timed on this test and it is a little confusing if you don't pay attention to it. Not hard, just confusing

And I'm pretty sure they give the test after a full day of physical workouts and tests so you're totally drained by the time you take the Wonderlic test

It IS a subtitute for the old - and longer to administer - IQ tests. I tried to draw an analogy to the SATs because the SATs also try to measure future human performance (in college) the way the Wonderlic tries to measure future human performance in learning "stuff" only some of which is "book learning". Neither test is 100% reliable. Neither one is 0% reliable.

The designers of the Wonderlic test claim that it measures the testee's ability to learn things and learn them quickly and to "put 2 and 2 together" in life situations. Many - if not most - of the companies that hire security guards use the test for their applicants because they want people who can react to strange situations in a reasoned manner and not just draw weapons and fire.

The fact that Taylor scored very low on the test MIGHT mean that he has not yet been able to figure out the importance of getting a contract done on sone kind of schedule that will allow him to get into camp. He MIGHT not know he can't go to camp without one. He MIGHT be thinking that missing a week or so of camp is a good idea because it gives him a week more of "vacation" and he'll be the starter anyway because he always has been the starter and the redskins drafted him in the first round. He MIGHT think that missing an NFL required course is like skipping a "required" course at Miami. Do you think he ever got any serious discipline if he cut a class there?

MAYBE his "immaturity" and "lack of focus" is due to his lack of ability to grasp what is happening around him because he does not have a professional advisor in these matters.

Or maybe he is just immature and unfocused...

Time will tell.
