Re: It was very obvious...
Yeah, I'd like to think that I love sportsmanship more, but honestly if Sean Taylor tackled TO, broke him in half and then dropped trow and defected on the remains, there's an evil inside me that would get great enjoyment out of it, even though TO's career would be over.
Seriously, and it's really, REALLY bad to say, but if he had a career-ending injury, part of me would say: "Karma's a bitch." I'm sure that we have some truly good people out there, but I would bet that 75-80% of us would cheer deep down.

Re: It was very obvious...
I'm definitely in the minority.
I am a Terrell Owens FAN. Have been ever since his days in San Fran. I don't particularly care for his mouth, and I hate the teams he plays on, but the man can flat out PLAY football. He's one of, if not THE best WR in the NFL. I think the media created the TO monster that they now complain about so much. They say all he wants is attention, and yet there they are, day in and day out dissecting every little thing he says. I think the Eagles screwed him. As has been evident numerous times in the past, Philly undercuts players, and values no one over the age of 30. I think that TO figured out that they were going to cut him before his roster bonus was due, thereby saving themselves their precious cap room, and screwing him out of over half the money he was promised when he went to court to be able to join their team. (I'd be pissed off about it, too.) I think this past year in Dallas was especially laughable from the media standpoint,, because they made everything he did seem like a HUGE big deal. they speculated to the point that their speculation became supposed fact. For example, The general feelin is TO forced Parcells out. Parcells says completely the opposite, says that he had no better or worse relationship with Owens than any other player. But to the avg. fan, Parcells is lying, and TO did indeed make him leave. Parcells may be a lot of things, but a liar? I don't know about that. Now it's about the playbook. Sure, not the best news to float out about a player, but somehow he led the NFL in TD receptions. Oh yes, he had drops. Most in the league in fact. A challenge is to tell me who led the league in drops in 05 without looking it up. Unless you're a stat fountain odds are you have no idea because the media didn't remind you every single day who it was. Now, TO had a broken finger, played with it all season, didn't miss a game, and risked permanent damage to his hand so he could play. (But he's a bad team guy, I hear) He's had 3 surgeries on it since the season ended. And he STILL led the NFL in TD receptions. If that was Marvin Harrison or Torry Holt leading the NFL in TD receptions while playing thru a broken finger, they'd be building statues in their honor and fawning over how great it is. TO does it, and it's ingnored, and the fact he's dropping a pass here and there is focused on.. rarely if ever mentioning his broken finger as a possible cause.. Bottom line for me.. take everything the media says about their favorite dartboard with a grain of salt. Then look at the real circumstances and see it for what it is. In this case, he didn't know the playbook his first year with a new team in a system unlike any he'd played in as a pro. (He's been exclusively in a WCO his entire career.) and everyone thinks that is awful and yet another indicator that he is indeed the Devil. (Not excusing him ...it is what it is.) But I see that and say, yeah, he didn't know it, but he still put up great numbers (over 1000 yds) and again, led the NFL in TDs. I'm just glad he's afraid of Sean Taylor, cause he's an absolute monster on the football field. ~Bang

T.O. definately does a lot of this to himself. He's certainly stupid from the aspect of knowing how to deal with a media that is out to get him. But there's one thing that's very telling. The average NFL fan thinks T.O. was the reason the 2005 Eagles missed the playoffs. They think it was his presence in the locker room that stole the team from D-Mac and caused them to falter. Bullsh-t. McNabb got injured in the first game. That Eagles defense in 2005 was awful. Due to a painful injury and being an already chronically inconsistent player, McNabb and the Eagles offense faltered. They won a few games behind some freak plays (or series of plays) against the Raiders, Chiefs, and Chargers (espicially that blocked FG vs SD, not that I'm complaing after this years Dallas game ). They weren't a good football team. McNabb got hurt, Westbrook got hurt, both of their lines got decemated. In a season where things were going right, I doubt Andy Reid would have suspended T.O. for making "comments detremental to the team." But the frusteration had to be boiling over in Philly and Reid wasn't about to take any more crap. T.O. wouldn't have made a damn difference if he was playing. They still would have been void of talent on both sides of the ball. But the Eagles locker room was very supportive of T.O. In fact, many reports say that more Eagles sided with T.O. than Donovan. So if this was the case, why does the media paint McNabb to be the golden boy, and T.O. to be the villian? There were at the very least two parties at fault, and McNabb is seen as the victim here. Look the guy's a great team player. He's gritty and plays realtively well through pain. T.O. is not the prototypical team guy. But that doesn't excuse the media's gross biases in this individual situation. This was crappy, horrible journalism the whole way around. And when it comes to T.O. crappy journalism is a staple.

Agreed. I think TO's main problem with the media is he says whatever is on his mind without self-editing. And as everyone knows, that is the worst thing you can do. ~Bang

Re: It was very obvious...
TO is NOT a good team player, because he's divisive and sets truly bad examples (the taunting, the blaming of others, the whole bike riding thing to avoid mini camp).

Re: It was very obvious...
And what would you say if Owens did it to us? Why would it be acceptable behavior if WE do as opposed to THEM doing it? Sorry, it's classless no matter who does it where.
Also, what would you say about the Cowboy fans who taunt you after Owens does it? Why would that be unacceptable behavior?
