Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
well, last year i really liked maurice jones-drew cause he had a lot of heart with some good talent, and that seems to translate well... okoye definitely has heart and plays hard till the whistle, and he'd definitely be my #1 choice at DT, if nothing else. I think branch is lazy too.

I mean, if i could have any one player this year, it'd be calvin johnson, and the #2 choice wouldn't even be in the same stratosphere. outside of that though, you've got a good group of players across a bunch of positions, including a completely tangled (but deep) DL group and a deep, clear pecking order at WR. |

Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
I'm sorry I know the media has a huge man crush on Okoye, don't get me wrong I like the kid and I think he has the potential to be good in the NFL, but I think Branch is going to be better than Okoye.

Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
Just so everyone knows, mel kiper now has Okoye as the top rated defensive linemen in the draft. That higher than Jamal Anderson and Gaines Adams. I always say the only thing better that a dominate outside pass rusher is a dominant inside force on the dline who can penetrate to the stuff the run and rush the passer.

Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
So, if we trade out of the #6 with Houston, does Minnesota take him at #7?

You mean Branch or Okoye? Maybe. But they spent their top draft picks on D-linemen in '05, '04, and '03 with Erasmus James, Kevin Williams, and Kenechi Udeze. Last year it was LB Chad Greenway. So you'd think they'd make the shift to offense this year. Who knows. |

Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
You mean the Minnesota team with Kevin and Pat Williams at DT? Doesn't seem likely. Houston would seem more likely to make the pick, but I don't have a great sense of their needs at DL.

and that is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! i love this guy and if we trade down and pick up an extra 2nd round pick and draft someone like Anthony Spencer or Tim Crowder or Ray McDonald it would be like an orgy if we were able to pull that off that would pull our dismal defense to top 10 easily and our d line would be one of the best in the league think about it Andre Carter, Amobi Okoye, Cornelius Griffin, Victor Abiamiri just makes me foam at the mouth

Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
What's interesting is that Okoye is also supposed to meet with Denver (I'm sure he's scheduled to meet with a lot of teams) but at #21 the Broncos probably won't get him so the question is are they looking to move (maybe to #6) to get Okoye

Re: Are we adressing our D-line?
a 4 year starter and only 19. oh, he also was accepted to Hartvard to go to college... definitely a gibbs guy. ive been emailing the skins site to draft this guy for months, i dont care about his value or where we could get him, get him at 6 or 8 or 12, just get him. and whoever said they like branch better..... na

I have also heard that the Skins are not that high on Adams or Anderson, and I agree with the analysis of Branch as a potential bust. Kiper said it best - he should have been dominant in college and often wasn't. Why would that change at the next level? He has the frame to be a good player but I doubt he will emerge as a stud. I just have a good feeling about Okoye. In fact, I think I am going to mail redskins.com just to let them know that. |
