Think its good news for the Redskins. Wade Phillips is a pretty weak coach in my estimation. No way they are as good without "THE TUNA".

Interesting tidbit on the Dan Patrick show today ... of the 24 Super Bowl winning coaches, only 3 -- Bill Belichick(Browns), Mike Shanahan (Raiders), and Weeb Eubank -- won it in their second go-round as head coach.

Re: Wade Phillips is the new coach of the Pukes

#4 is our lucky number.

Gibbs could get his 4th ring with his 4th different starting QB in his 4th year back and be the 4th coach to win a Super Bowl in his second stint all with the a team finished 4th in the division this year.

LOL

I knew Coach Norv going to Dallas to make the Magic he made in D.C. was too good tobe true!

Re: Wade Phillips is the new coach of the Pukes

"The flip side is he has a reasonable chance of hoisting a Super Bowl trophy sometime in the next few years. He certainly has a better chance of doing it in Dallas than anywhere else he’s been. So, again, what does he have to lose?"

I'm assuming he means as a head coach, otherwise he's a total dumbass.

Honestly, with the guys who were the canidates, unless Phillips lights the world on fire this year, I have always thought Jones just wanted to bring someone in for a season, then throw money at a big name guy (maybe Lovie Smith), following this season. With the talent on that team though, I think it would be a huge mistake if thats the truth, because it will set the franchise back about 3-4 years, and alot of the talent that is good now, wont be as good then. I'd like to hear a Cowboy fans take on that, it just seemed like these canidates were very average, especially for a franchise like Dallas. I mean I know he had success there, but Norv Turner? Wade Phillips? Jason Garrett? Dosen't sound like Jerry Jones to me. I would pretty much expect the same things if we were looking for a head coach and thats who Snyder brought in.
I like the hire. I wanted a young blood, but i think Jerry is going to leave that up to his son when Jerry finally decides that he is done with the day to day football stuff. (How long does jerry have anyway, 5 years? Can't be more, dude is 65.)

So three years (fingers crossed) with Son of Bum, then Let Jason Garrett - RedBall - take over along with Jerry Jr. Sounds about right.

True Wade might not be a sexy pick - and that is the last time you are going to see the word 'sexy' near to the name 'Wade Phillips' - but who would be?
Jimmy Johnson isn't coming back and his assistants haven't done too well - Butch Davis, Norv, who is that dude at Pitt oh yeah Wannstadt - but with Garrett I think they have their future HC.

Let son of Bum bring back the 'Luv Ya Blue' fans and maybe he goes out with Jerry with some skins on the wall in three or four years.

Sure Cowher is a sexy pick as would be Lovie, but this team seems to be ready now, so rebuilding is four years off - I hope - and then you go with the young coach who can grow with the team.

I like the pick. I don't know how many pics of Bum Phillips with his 10 gallon hat we are going to see now.

I hope his pressers are as interesting...

Yeah, you're right. Jon Cybil was wrong on that one then (he was the guest host).

Still, the point is retread head coaches are rarely successful. Not saying that it can't be done, but just look at the numbers.

Jon Gruden? Tony Dungy?

There have been a few that have at least made it back to the Big Game as well: Holmgren, Reeves, Parcells...can't remember if Bobby Ross was at Detroit before or after San Diego.

OK, you know what? Forget it! That's the last time I listen to anything Cybil has to say.
