Re: Saints: real or one hit wonder?
Brees never had anything close to these offensive weapons when he was in SD. Granted, Tomlinson is nasty as can be, but is a Deuce/Bush tandem any worse when you consider them together? Gates was a great TE target, but Brees has much better WRs in Horn, Colston, Copper, etc. than he did in SD.
Plus SD was so much more conservative with the Martyball. He definitely had the capability of 4000 yard seasons, he just needed an environment like N.O. to show it.

Re: Saints: real or one hit wonder?
I tend to agree with most that D needs attention but offensively they are going to be tough. If Peyton applies the same structure and planning to building the D then I am scared of this team. And I THOUGHT coming into this season that Peyton was going to be a disaster. He never seemed to be very good as a coordinator and I couldn't figure why he was such a hot canidate. I distinctly remember him having play calling taken away from him in NY at one point.

I always thought that a strong Defense would increase your odds of success. If this is a poll, the Saints are a one time wonder for me.

Re: Saints: real or one hit wonder?
I think they are at a crossroads...they have unbelievable offensive talent but a average defense at best.
Depending how they handle thier defensive needs they could be a great complete team or the NFC's version of the Colts...for the record though I think they move on the the Superbowl and get beaten in a close one by the Patriots.

It's so hard to say in this topsy-turvy world we call the NFL. I mean, three of the four conference championship teams last year (Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Denver) didn't even make the playoffs this year.

Re: Saints: real or one hit wonder?
I like what I see in the saints. They're doing so many good things. The rookie receiver Colston appears like a steal, so they've got some pretty good scouting going on there.
I can easily see colston going somewhere else, and not being used to his potential. NO seems like a perfect fit for him, and that team appears to be on the right track.

Re: Saints: real or one hit wonder?
Does it matter if their one hit wonders. Their still playing and were still sitting at home as usual watching everyone play. Its amazing what happens when a bad team uses the draft and get a good Qb to run the team. Wish that would happen here

Re: Saints: real or one hit wonder?
i say they look like a truely good team. they're well coached, they have some very good weapons on offense and their defense is pretty good.

Re: Saints: real or one hit wonder?
Is there any way we can blame Marty for our 5-11 season as well, I know theres got to be some kind of way to do that. I know it's in vogue to throw the poor guy under the bus now, but come on that quote is taking it a bit to far!
