He never said anything of the sort. If I find a link I'll post it, but you can probably find it in the archives of sportstalk980.com. It was on the John Thompson show if I remember right

No he didn't say he wanted out, that's why it's crazy that people are saying that.

King on the other hand has been a consistent Monk naysayer. For him to switch is significant. Especially when the locals ask him why he switched. As I said in a previous thread, PK switched after canvassing coaches and players across the country during his training camp visits - something the locals who would vote against Monk can't do. Sorry, I respectfully disagree with Tony on this - Monk will be going in this year. Shapiro knows this is Monk's best shot and has played on PK's basic desire to be seen as consistent (a desire not mirrored in Dr. Z) and gotten him on board with the H. Carson arguments. If I was a suspicious man, I wouldn't be surprised if Shapiro sat their last year, nodding his head and going "you're so so right about Carson's intangibles Peter - he should get in" only to be turning it around on PK this year.

Speaking of guys who should be in the hall of fame... what about Gary Clark... did he have the same numbers as Michael Irvin?

On the issue of Portis, listening to him talk he sounds like a player who may walk away from the game sooner than some might expect. He often speaks about the beating he takes, and how he welcomes Betts as a backfield mate to take some of the load off him. I think he really concerned about being able to walk away form the game upright, and healthy.

Re: Tony McGee On the 2006 Washington Redskins
Trades in the nfl are rare. Especially when the player is one of the highest paid players at the position. Ladell played nearly as well as Portis last year and got paid a whole lot less. I am sure teams are more intrested in Betts than acquiring Portis with his huge cap numbers.
