Re: Steinbach or Dockery?
Hopefully we get Dockery locked up well before free agency starts. If that Post article from this week was accurate, that should be the case. I'll feel better once he is inked though. We've all seen too many players like Dockery - not stars, but important to the team nonetheless - walk over the years in favor of the latest and greatest free agent.

Re: Steinbach or Dockery?
Being that Saunder's offensive schemes is supposed to be so tough and it took the O-line almost a complete season to gel, I think that re-signing Dockery should be an easy answer to this question

Re: Steinbach or Dockery?
Sounds like a resounding case for Dock. If we get him signed up the remaining offensive near term signings to worry about are Cooley and Sellers. Everyone else is locked up for a while although getting a backup for tackle and guard would be nice considering Wade will leave for starter money in the offseason.

Re: Steinbach or Dockery?
DOCKERY Times 1,000!!!!
Its obvious the guys on the line love playing with him, it keeps the chemistry there. He's vastly improved and he'd be alot cheaper I'd think. Plus what kind of a message does this send (again) to the rest of the team. I'll be very upset if we dont get Dock back, especially after Samuels said yesterday he'd restructure to keep him.

Re: Steinbach or Dockery?
I must admit to being a big Dockery hater in the past. But man the guy has really improved. The lost weight has really improved his play. I think we need to stick the transition tag on him if he hits the free agent market.

Don't gety me wrong - I agree with you and the others and I am all for keeping our own - I have posted previously on other threads that I prefer the drafting method to building a team with a free agent here or there as icing on the cake. I hope that the FO is going after Dock hard - I just worry with our past history that when a current player asks for huge money for some reason the FO (whoever make the money decisions) lets the player get away. I hope that Dock will give the Redskins some leverage with negotiations and not ask for crazy money because moving to a new team is never as easy as it sounds - maybe this was a big reason Betts decided to stay. |

Re: Eric Steinbach or Derrick Dockery?
Plus, Dock is one of our own, and I've always been in favor of us resigning our own players. Betts...Dockery....Good Start.

Re: Eric Steinbach or Derrick Dockery?
Steinbach is the better player, but with money and continuity in mind, it's in our best interest to resign Dockery. Steinbach would be another huge contract that we would complain about.

He still has big problems in pass pro (as does Rabach and Jansen, at least this year), but it's tough to argue with what we've done on the ground this year without Portis.

Re: Eric Steinbach or Derrick Dockery?
I say we let Dockery go. He will definatly want too much money. Then we should sign Steinbach and make him the highest paid guard in the league. He deserves it.
