Re: ESPN: Nate Clements in Redskins' plans?
Aren't the Ravens in good shape as far as the cap goes? If so why would they let Thomas go - their owner is not cash strapped.

Re: ESPN: Nate Clements in Redskins' plans?
I like the Clements idea ONLY if we are moving Springs to FS and Taylor to SS.. Springs needs to bulk up a little but he is getting a little slow for CB but will be all over the field as a FS.. Thomas-pass, I'd rather get a free agent MLB to hold down the middle. I'd love to get Gaines Adams from Clemson but I think he'll be gone by our pick if we win out..

Depending on how we finish and the Broncos finish we will either swap 1st round picks with Denver or we give them a 4th rounder in 2008(since we don't have a 4th rounder in 07 due to the Llyod trade. It is looking like we will be giving them their 4th rounder in 08.

Re: ESPN: Nate Clements in Redskins' plans?
thomas is a little older than i thought. a 270 lbs OLB in a 3-4 defense, who will be 30 by next season's start might not be the best choice to be a 4-3 linebacker in our system, and probably wouldnt be that wise to spend too much on him at this point. if we go after a 30+ linebacker id hope it would be london fletcher

Re: ESPN: Nate Clements in Redskins' plans?
If the Redskins feel like cornerback is a need area, and this is the best value at the position that is available on the market, then they should pull the trigger.
I do not believe this is the situation. I believe Clements is a very talented player who will demand the highest salary in the market and by signing him, the Redskins would be paying above-market for a player. I would prefer to see them target a solid young player who can fill the nickel role for a year, and grow into the starting position once Springs retires in a year or so. |

Re: ESPN: Nate Clements in Redskins' plans?
Why go for Thomas when the price it takes to get him will be higher than ever. We have taken players at similar stages in their careers and it has rarely worked out for us. I would love to see the Skins start structuring their team through the use of the draft. To say that free agents are less of a risk just doesn't seem to be the case these days, especially not for us.

Re: ESPN: Nate Clements in Redskins' plans?
i think they need a good defensive end worse than they do a qb.the qb can sit back in the pocket and write a song unless a good de can put some pressure on him.i would almost give on of your right nuts to see julius peppers as a redskin,he's the real deal!
