Agreed 100%. He is completley unbiased and I think he's the best voice on the TV Today.

Re: Can we vote Madden off the Planet?

There's another Cowboy who does pretty decent color commentary, and that's Moose Johnston. He and Aikman must have gone to the same broadcasting school...

I don't care for Madden much, but I wouldn't vote him off the planet. Now Brian Baldinger, that's a horse of a different color (shit colored).

I'm okay with Madden. I've gotten to the point where I can tune him out if he starts to ramble. He still offers a lot of knowledge though. I've learned more from him all these years than any other announcer when it comes to football, not the facts of life though. He totally confused me on THAT!

There should be a clear distinction between Madden now, and Madden years ago. Because at this point I think he needs to retire...hes entertaining, but down right annoying as well.

Two things ive heard him say this year, first, after the Portis injury he says.. "Theres two things that could have happened to his shoulder, a seperation, which is when the shoulder seperates, or a dislocation, thats when teh should get dislocated"....he pretty much should costar on a medical tv drama

and I hate when he says lines like, "The coach had two choices on that play, he could call a run, or he could call a pass"....

Re: Can we vote Madden off the Planet?

I am pro-Madden. He at least gets most of the important stuff right, and his goofy rambling is better than the shrill nonesense we get from most NFL color commentators these days.

Aikman and Buck are probably the best, these days--people forget that the real play-by-play pros like Michaels and Buck set up their color guys well.

But, if it isn't Aikman and Buck, and Moose (if you like him) and maybe Simms, who would you like over Madden and Michaels? So Madden isn't the best anymore--he's still better than most.

Re: Can we vote Madden off the Planet?

I really like the Madden/Michaels team.

Overall NBC's coverage is much better than ESPN when it comes to providing a high quality football broadcast.

It's funny, ESPN used to provide the best game coverage, now they've gone Hollywood and provide more entertainment than quality football coverage.

I'm tired of the booth interviews with celebs, the stupid emails that Tony takes, etc. Not the quality coverage that we've come to expect from the "Worldwide Leader".

I agree--ESPN is a circus--sometimes they seem to forget there is a game on.

Well played, sir.

I love Madden. Although, I can totally understand why people don't. What's funny is that it's usually the same reason. The quote that Saden posted is a good example of why I like him, and also why people don't. He reminds me of Howard Stern in that regard.

On another note, I would have to say that nobody provides the level of insight that Madden does.

Madden is no better or worse than the others. Aikman is a absolute moron who doesn't even understand the rules of the game - and proves it each week. The worst in the NFL though, is without question, the MNF crew and NFL Net crews. They are absolutely God-Awful.

So it sounds like you hate everyone, are there any announcers you like?

Agreed about NFL Network, but as much as I hate to say it, I thought the booth was better when Deion and Faulk were in it last week. What happened to Vermeil? Did his voice kick the bucket that night??

I vote to KEEP him...he's great for laughs and entertainment during bad games.

Besides, I don't want to risk losing the EA Sports game that comes out every year.

There is an article in the current issue of Sports Illustrated talking about how ESPN's MNF coverage has gone the entertainment route as compared with NBC.
