Raise your hand if you're surprised.

Yeah, that's what I thought!

Re: Lavar will not play in pre-season opener

Seems like they are a little worried about LaVar's knee on the Giants message board:

************************************************** *******

According to Tom Coughlin, the Giants' trainers are "in the process of developing a way in which we can manage this thing with him." He remained hopeful that Arrington would return to practice "under those guidelines" next week. But he also sounded like there's a possibility Arrington's knee problems will be a season-long thing.

************************************************** ***********************************

If it's like Washington, Lavar will start complaining when he isn't starting even though he isn't practicing at all. I hate to say it, but we seem to be headed there.

I USED TO be a 'real' Lavar fan, until he started running his damn mouth. I couldn't be happier he is out of Washington; he really wasn't worth the trouble.

When he starts acting a jerk in NY, you'll want him gone too. That is if he ever sees the field. Warrick Holdman beat him out for the starting role for most of last season.

2 years of ongoing knee problems... perhaps the Skins were right after all?
No way Gibbs and Williams let him go if he's healthy. I have learned not to doubt Joe.

Alright, guys I have a bold statement to say about LA. He has been injured alot over the past few years. Now does anybody remember back when the Balco steriod case was exposed in San Francisco? I somewhat remmember that there was a brief story on ESPN that implicated LA among other footbal players to have been involved. At the time I did not want to believe the story (and for some reason it was squashed focusing more on baseball then football) but now that he isn't a Redskin, he has been hurt a good bit since Balco/Victor Cante went down, and if you haven't noticed LA has not had the physical physique that he used to I pose the question to guys out there on the WARPATH. Do you think he might have been involved?

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!

the plot thickens

That's an interesting thought. Steriods help you rebound from injuries faster, but they also increase the chances because you get too big for your body, so to speak. Now that I think about it I wouldn't be that suprised if this were the case.

Re: Lavar will not play in pre-season opener

Someone brought this up back then, albeit very briefly. You could draw some comparisons between him Bonds. They both were on crutches around the same time with knee issues and both were playing the victim in the media around the same time. That's it. Whether he was on the juice or not is purely wild speculation.

I think the fact the NFL has a pretty tough testing program in place would make it more difficult than say ten years ago to get by on roids.

It's an interesting thought to say the least.

ProFootballTalk.com -- The Best Pro Football Scoop on the Internet

LAVAR "WON'T BE 100 PERCENT" THIS YEAR

Amid reports that Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington's knee is still giving him trouble, there's a growing belief in league circles that Arrington "won't be 100 percent" in 2006.

And the words "degenerative knee condition" are now being mentioned in connection with Arrington, suggesting that he might never be much better than he is right now.

Arrington's knee, we've heard, raised flags in other cities in the offseason when he was looking for a new team. Eventually, he signed a contract that, while impressive on paper, requires him to be able to perform well in order to unlock the truly big money.

Subtracting the $4 million or so in earned but unpaid bonus money he waived with the Redskins in order to hit the free agent market early, Arrington doesn't stand to cash in with the Giants if he can't play at a high level.

For the Giants, the contract structure limited their risk, but they still took a chance on Arrington and, by all appearances, they lost.

I thought "the clear" was hard to test for? I don't know for sure obviously but I was making an observation. Anyway we are going to have a great year and LA will miss out on getting his vengence on the Washington Redskin Franchise at Fed-Ex that he is hoping for.

Good scoop. And let me say for the record, I take no pleasure in the fact that LA is having knee issues. I think he's a helluva athlete and I would indeed like to see him return to form. But wow, who would have thought the Redskins actually knew what they were doing by letting him go

Re: Lavar will not play in pre-season opener

I don't want to see him return to any form. I don't want him helping any other team but ours, and that's by sucking ass.

I'm not going to wish him injury, but I'm definitely going to wish he is just a flat-out bad player. Nothing personal.

If this is from reliable sources, then it does sound like his knee troubles are starting all over again. But other than the last few posts, it seems everybody here is willing to say that he's through just because he's gonna miss the 1st preseason game. I'm not ready to say that he's not going to be a factor this year just because he misses one preseason game. It was only 7 months ago that he was playing well for us. If this problem persists late into preseason that's a different story.

I'd be willing to bet that if even if he does play the season he'll be on IR by the time the g-strings come to FedEx in December.

Re: Lavar will not play in pre-season opener

Okay, given the fact he may not play at 100% this season, now how do the Giants look when stacked up versus the East division? Not that he was solely the man that hyped up their rankings but he was mentioned as a reason.

I think LA, the LB, is a LC but maybe that's because I have a LD.
