Re: Cuban's Karma

i thought cuban's reaction after the final loss last night was respectable- he stood there on the court clapping (probably more for his team's effort than miami's win).

wade was unbelieveable this series- i'm a true believer that while there are plenty of bad calls during the playoffs, the whistles are proportionate to the aggressiveness. dallas settled for jumpers instead of the formula that worked the first two and 3/4ths games... wade drove to the hole every time and the refs are gonna give it to him.

i honestly thought dallas was the better team, but wade was something else. he was all over the court last night- and people tend to gloss over his rebounding ability from the 2 spot. his ability to use glass for his mid range game is highly reminiscent of duncan's.

the mavs have no one to blame but themselves after choking away game 3. they were in control of this series until the last 7 minutes of that game. critical missed FTs (for a team that shoots them well) and mental gaffes really hurt.

I'm not questioning what he's done for the team in terms of marketing and helping make them a winner, there's no doubt he's done a great job at that, I just don't appreciate his antics.

Bad officiating didn't make Dirk give the ball away anytime the game was on the line. Bad officiating didn't make Jason Terry the only one man enough to miss a big shot. It didn't make Dwyane (the proper spelling, not a typo) Wade kill them. So, I'm not buying bad officiating. The Heat obviously wanted it more and they had a superstar. Dirk played like a coward and they lost. End of story.

I like Mark Cuban. I emailed him once when I was in business school to get a quote from him for a marketing presentation. Within a couple of hours he responded. I went to him about a half dozen times seeking quotes or suggestions from him for papers and presentations and he always responded right away with detailed answers. And he'd follow up to see how the presentation went.

That said, the Mavs can't really blame officiating for tanking the way they did. Miami played as if they may not make back to the championship game for a long time. Dallas semed to have a "whatever, we'll be back next year" attitude.
