ps - I haven't looked at this picture in like 3 years (this was Darrell's last game) but is my dad, the guy on the far left who looks like Theismann, giving the shocker sign?

Re: It is way too early fella's!!
ok, maybe its not to bad live, if someone gives you free tickets. and buys all your beers. and all your food. and sends a limo to pick you up. and if the limo has atleast two strippers in it. and if the strippers are twins from austraila. and if you stop by a 7-11 and send the twins in to get you more beer and a lottery ticket. and if its the winning numbers for a $30+ million jackpot. and w/ that kind of $ you could buy the limo and hire the strippers full time. :headbange

LBrown43-
I am one of the few that agrees with you. I see this happen every year on this sight. In the offseason the prediction posts get bolder and bolder as the offseason inches to its end. As a result the expectations are set extremely high come September 1. Then when we hit a bump in the road during the season, as every team does, you will then see post like 'I hate Brunnell', 'Gibbs is too conservative', 'Portis is over rated' 'We need a real GM" etc. etc. You should have been a member the summer before Gibbs first season back. The expectation was Gibbs was going to take a team that sucked for 10 years and instantly turn them into a playoff team. Then people blamed Gibbs when they were below .500 The young members of this sight that were too young to remember watching Gibbs super bowl winning years wanted Gibbs gone. It was a sight to read. However what makes this sight so great is it is intended for everyones opinions. No matter if we agree with it or not. |

Re: It is way too early fella's!!
Nice post D! I agree about the off season expectations and the coaching staff being held responsible for ridiculous expectations that cannot be upheld-SILLY. IMO, this staff and team have made remarkable improvments, and delivered results in short order. Something most NFL teams are incapable of doing under any circumstances, or ever. I expect them to take the East this season. As you say it wil not be a gift. I also expect them to SERIOUSLY challenge for the NFC and take it all next year.
PS-I spent several years in Baytown PSS-thanx for the Larry Brown Avatar!!!!!!!!!

Re: It is way too early fella's!!
Ask yourself what Joe Gibbs expectations are for this season. Make a very strong run at a World Championship would be my guess. I think high expectations are fully warranted. Two years ago not so much.

Re: It is way too early fella's!!
Gibbs was brought back two years ago to get his fourth ring; I think going into his third year(part2) we have every reason to expect that the team should improve on last season.

That's an educated repsonse to this thread. However, I can not remember a single year in which the NFC East teams were mediocre against each other. If you want to blame somebody, then let it be me about how "we are the team to beat." I have good reasons to make such a statement, yet notice I did not say we are going to win the NFC nor the SB. My point is that from top to towel boy we have something to be envious of right now. Also known as chemistry and commradship. Just one example: Moss laying his whole body out for Portis to get in....yup we have a tough schedule, good thing Gibbs is in the film room and spurrier is on the golf course. With extended applause to Bugel, Byner and..... Love us or leave us.....SJ O'Connor asked 44 for an auto....Reagan flipped the coin.... We are the USA's team Hail |

Re: It is way too early fella's!!
Ok!!! So we will win the Super Bowl in this fashion!!!
We will go undefeated, allow no points, no turnovers and will have the number one rated defense AND offense. We will send 22 starters to the Pro Bowl. Portis will lead the league in yards rushing and rushing touchdowns. Moss will lead the league in catches and touchdowns recieving. Randel El will throw 5 TD's and catch 15 more (not to mention the 12 he will score returning punts and kick offs). The defensive backfield will have a total of 27 interceptions...18 run back for touchdowns and we will lead the league in fumble recoveries. Hall will kick a 77 yard field goal to shatter the current record and will score an untouchable 115 PAT's. Joe Gibbs himself will actually come in during the 4th quarter of a routing of the Colts in the Super Bowl, don Jergensen's #9, and throw a touchdown.... to himself. Did I leave out anything? I don't mean to bring down anybodys "preseason buzz" but that is just it. The team looks great on paper and I could not be more psyched about our prospects, but I have seen so many "homers'' resort to what "Defensewins" refers to. So many of you (and I am noting the names and will see who posts what after a few losses) will be calling for any number of players/coaches heads come mid season after a rough patch. Of course expectations are high. EVERY team is in it to win the Super Bowl, thats a given. A lot of key pieces are in place. Now its got to be done each Sunday on the field to get the one for the pinky. |
