Re: Redskins | Archuleta working on his own
thatguy ,im with you on the point about too much work out might be causing some of the injuries that have plagued A.A. thru out his short career.and with the way his back is,im surprised the skins dont want to monitor him in a controlled situation.im with st21 on this one,he should be in washington with his new teammates.its not about him,its about the team

Re: Redskins | Archuleta working on his own
Schneed makes an excellent point. I read an article (possibly on this site) about how players in previous decades didn't have all the mandatory team activities that are required now. When the spring months hit, they were out making money as door-to-door salesmen, construction workers, etc. just to get an extra pay check. Their physical conditioning was a matter of personal iniciative (spelling?) and responsibility.
On top of that, I know some people work better on their own when it comes to studying, workouts, etc. As a college student, I derived benefit from studying alone instead of working in study groups. I'm not sure why some guys here are freaking out because Archuleta is working out on his own. At least he's taking care of himself.

Honestly, i don't think this is a big deal. From what i've heard of, he's a big workout buff. Lol jk, am i the only one who thinks this guy is fat and out of shape?

Re: Redskins | Archuleta working on his own
Arch seems like a good team guy from all accounts. He simply has his own workout style that is way outside what most do so it doesn't suit much to be here. He will get plenty of time to mingle with the guys at minicamps. As long as a guy can stay out of trouble and can be trusted to work every bit as hard as anyone else I don't care if they are here or not.

Re: Redskins | Archuleta working on his own
Arch not being there is fine with me. Especially this early. He has been in the league for awhile and knows what he needs to do to stay in shape. He will show up in May and then again in June and then again in August..... Man they have a long offseason. It is not like he needs to be developing timing with a QB or an Offensive line or anything. All he needs to do, is know where to line up and then go hit somebody!
I have never played organized football, but I would think Safety and Corner have got to be the easiest positions to play "learning curve wise". Most of the time you are one on one anyway, which is just pure talent. Unless it is your turn to Blitz. Someone help me with this! Am I right or totaly off base. |

Re: Redskins | Archuleta working on his own
An interesting tidbit about Archuleta's workout plan. If he's still using the same trainer, it's the same guys that Nomar Garciaparra, Donovan McNabb, and many other professional athletes go to in the offseason. I have the trainers book about the workout plan he created. It's supposed to increase flexability and endurance, in addition to strength. Apparently one of the side effects is a decreased resistance to injury.
