Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
i think whitehurst is the late round qb this year that could be a low tier starter. So many people are hyping up culter, but what i've seen of him hasn't been very impressive :/ I definately don't buy the he might be the best pro crap.

Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
Regarding the drafting of a wide receiver...i wouldnt be against it...in say the 3rd round for depth. I believe that we would be more likely to make out well by drafting a tight end...cause this draft is apparently really deep at the tight end position...however i guess a future prospect at wide receiver wouldnt be too bad.
With regard to what we have already, I dont understand why so many people think that we should cut Taylor Jacobs. I understand that he hasnt done shit yet for the skins. But he has also had injury problems etc... Frankly i think considering that the coaches have said he has enormous potential that we should hold on to him. I dont think we are paying him all that much, and we could even bring in others to compete. I mean if you keep him, and he continues to suck...fine you wasted a fourth or fifth wide receiver spot on a bust....big deal. Or if he's really bad you could even cut him in preseason. But if you cut him...and he finally gets healthy, and realizes his potential the skins could really lose out. I say hold onto him...and let him compete for a job. I dont think we really have much to lose by keeping him. Even though we should still go out and look for someone else...a la koren robinson...who could give us production and would come relatviely cheap... I guess i feel this way cause its not like jacobs is a player like lavar who would eat up a huge amount of the skins cap space. He is getting paid a reasonable salary...still on his rookie contract. So hey...lets just see what the kid has before cutting him lose, since cutting him wouldnt do much for us anyway. |

Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
I think we could pick up a quality WR late.....Brandon Marshall from UCF is not getting much love and I don't even know if he was invited to the combine but this man could be a steal in the late rounds. He started playing WR and then was moved to saftey his Jr. year and lead the team in tackles, then moved back to WR his Sr. year and had a 1000 yard season. He has great size and could be nasty in the red zone.

Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
i agree that wasting an early pick on a WR isn't a great idea since its a bad draft for them and 95% of WRs don't make immediate impacts (and that's what everyone seems to be expecting). you can get blackmon (CB/WR) in the 3rd and get one of the 200 6'6" 4.5 guys as low as undrafted.
NFLeurope, you're right that jacobs doesn't cost us much (cutting him pre june 1st doesn't save enough money to hire a replacement, and post june 1st its about 800k if a new cba is in place). He's just been so bad though, but from the cap numbers he's the most likely to stay. On his injury problems, he's taken himself out of a lot of plays for really stupid reason and Gibbs talks up underperforming players on a regular basis, so don't buy too much into that. |

Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
you can tell nfleurope is a newbie.if i had to divide this site into percentages,i would estimate 95% or more of everyone here wants jacobs gone.he has been given his chance over and over again and for some reason ends up hurt.cannot play in this league(maybe a star in arena league)

Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
Ray Lewis - ProFoortballTalk reports that the Redskins tried to make a deal with the Ravens last week for Lewis per the follow excerpt:
"The problem is that, as we hear it, the team isn't interested in trading him, except for a blockbuster deal. We mentioned on Wednesday that the Ravens turned down an offer from the Redskins. As it turns out, the offer was made just last week." |

ALL PURE SPECULATION.
I checked that earlier and decided not to post because of the whole "Rumor Mill" where the article is located. Not exactly the highest grade place to get sports news.

Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
I must admit, I'm still a Jacobs supporter, I don't feel he played so poorly that he warrents getting attacked like he has. When I was at the Dallas game, I saw him get good seperation from defenders. I really think he's listed as a 4th or 5th option in our offense EVEN if he comes in as the 2nd WR. We have Moss, Cooley, Portis, Sellers, and Royal all ahead of him (depending on formation). He made some good catches, but didn't put up many stats.
I'd really like to see him have more balls thrown his way before I make a decesion on how awful he is. Everyone still talks about the extremely poorly thrown ball in his direction where he didn't play defense on it. While he should have tried to do... something, Brunell was hanging the little guy out to dry.

Re: who wuld u pick in the 2nd?
Daseal, I know Jacobs is a product of your boy Spurrier but it's time to admit he looks like a bust.
I was a supporter of him too but the guy just hasn't stepped up at all. He had a golden opportunity when Patten went down and he did absolutely nothing. The guy is soft and doesn't play the way he practices. The playoff game against Seattle was my last straw with him, on the Skins' first offensive series of the game Brunell hit him right in the chest and he dropped it. Then he took himself out of the game with a mysterious injury. I'd love to believe the guy is still a diamond in the rough, but right now I'm off his bandwagon until he proves me wrong and I won't be surprised to see him cut. |
