Re: Dr. Z's Coming Around

The SI guys are all fair for the most part. They don't really like the skins or Snyder, but they usually give credit when it's due. They are often wrong but they keep it professional for the most part.

Your mom obviously didn't hear about this guy: http://www.physorg.com/news8913.html

I'm just messing with you. Your mom's words are very sage. Skins are tired but they are also tougher, as Dr. Z points out. The longer the game is close - and it will be - the more the Seahawks will start to feel the pressure; being an underachieving team flirting with losing at home again, this time after a first round bye, I think they'll get all wobbly on us. That's when I look for them to make a costly turnover.

Re: Dr. Z's Coming Around

i think us having played seattle already this year will help more than we know. that extra time for rest and to head out there a bit early will really lessen the impact of that cross-country haul. i agree with some of the above posters. no way in heck that the skins' offense is lackluster this week.

yes the hawks should be favored, maybe even considerably. its the #1 seed vs. the #6. they have home-field and a wk to rest.

i feel that this will be a close game like last wk except maybe an extra TD for each team.

something like washington 24-17

You're right. That all having been said, we've come this far, we have to put it into high gear and carry it over. There is no dominate team in the NFC, there is no reason we cant be the team representing the NFC in Super Bowl Fourty. Ever since the playoffs started and I scanned the NFC, all I could think is "why not us?". This team has that special feeling, that feeling that I haven't had in a long, LONG time. I think we can and will win on saturday.

Fortunately, Gibbs appreciates that our players are tired. Practices have been light all week, and he's been talking about "lots of sleep" for the players during the 48 hours before kickoff in Seattle.

Re: Dr. Z's Coming Around

yeah, I'm not sure if exhaustion will keep these guys out of anything, but I have a question.... How in the hell could you sleep if you were playing in a game like that for the first time? I wonder if that is why Cooley has been off a bit...

If you played in the NFL, and u were 2 games away from a superbowl would you be that tired. They're close enough they can smell the big game. It called heart hoomie and our team has it, we will get that second win. Are they tired who knows, but what I do know is the playoffs can be very illusive for teams and to be in it and get to the second round is awesome. If I were playing and I got this far into the playoffs~ tired would not be a factor in my mind. You train all year to get this far, even further. Not to just lay down and give up a ball game like owell I'm tired.

If both teams were on one week's rest, I'd favor the Skins. I think we have an uphill battle this week, but I believe it can be done. The underdog role is not such a bad one! Anyway, here's his opinion:

Washington at Seattle

WHAT I SAW: The Redskins beat Tampa Bay on an amazing set of miscues and turnovers that led to points, plus late game Buccaneer foul-ups and just plain courage. While people were moaning about the death of the Skins' offense, they failed to give enough credit to the heroic job their defense was doing. There were just too many good players on that side of the ball, guys who could not be handled.

Cornelius Griffin was an all-pro tackle last year, an honor he well deserved. He's been hurt this season, but he was back against the Bucs. They couldn't control him. I thought Marcus Washington was the best player on the field, an outside 'backer who is very close to all-pro level. LaVar Arrington lifted his game at just the right time. So did Joe Salavea. There were heroes all along the front seven.

Maybe if they were facing a quarterback with a little more experience they would have lost, because their offense was played out. Done. Mark Brunell and Clinton Portis had played themselves to exhaustion, and the O-line was starting to crumble, under the pressure of the Buccaneer rush.

WHAT LIES AHEAD: I think the Redskins are a tired team right now. They beat the Seahawks 20-17 in overtime in Washington in October, controlling the second and third quarters, while the Hawks controlled the fourth. Then the Skins got off the only significant drive in OT to win it, Brunell scrambling for 18 yards on one key play.

Washington is the tougher team, but the Hawks are rested and they've got tremendous firepower. One nagging thing I can't forget, though, is how they blew their chance to beat the 'Skins last time by playing it cozy.

Kelly Herndon intercepted a Brunell pass and returned it to Washington's 33 with 49 seconds left in regulation time. Mike Holmgren chose to run the ball twice, for four yards, and let the clock run down. Then the 47-yard field goal try, hardly a gimme, hit the left upright. The icy fingers on the throat. Please, God, don't let us screw it up. Marty Schottenheimer lost a playoff game to Herman Edwards that way last year and Edwards lost it to Bill Cowher the same way a week later.

The Redskins have guts but they're tired. The Seahawks have the big scoring potential.

Seahawks 27, Redskins 20.
Who cares...........no one can predict what can happen,........Shawn A. meet Sean Taylor.........night, night time

Re: Dr. Z's Coming Around

Joe Gibbs is no tnew to the playoff thing, he knows how to keep the boys fresh but not rusty and i see no reason for the offesnse to be tired considering they only played 10 minutes and portis came out half way thru game form slight injury not making him rush as much

Re: Dr. Z's Coming Around

The players know better than anybody that they have six months to rest. Some will never see another playoff game while others will go beyond the playoffs to the big dance. Here are the players who are well rested who will make a difference in this game.

1. Shawn Springs
2. Sean Taylor
3. Carlos Rodgers
4. James Thrash
5. Rock Cartwright
6. Antonio Brown ( Must play on offense as a wideout)

If we are relying on Trash, Rock, and Antonio Brown to be difference-makers, I think we are in some serious muhvuggin trouble here.

Re: Dr. Z's Coming Around

I'm sorry, but saying that the Redskins might be tired and the Seahawks will be rested isn't an excuse. A bye week is crucial to a team's success. Healthy players are crucial to a team's success. I strongly disagree with anyone that thinks that the bye week doesn't give the Seahawks a relative advantage over the Redskins.
