Re: Season Game Ball?

Brunell...it all starts with the QB. Without the improved play at QB this year we are right where we were last year. Portis has no room to run without a compitent passing game and Moss can't catch it if someone doesn't put it there. It is a team game no doubt, but I think we have seen enough bad QB play here for the last 15 years to know that you don't win in this league without a compitent QB...

Re: Season Game Ball?

I'm with Demk25 on this. This team and season has a magic all of it's own. Unlike the Norv, Marty, and Spurrier years, this team does not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Years past we would all wait for that "unexplained bad thing" to happen. Now it's like the ball games play-out like they should with no unforseen mishaps.

Portis. The guy put on weight and shared his duties with Betts early in the year so that now he can go out and put the game on his shoulders. He worked hard in the offseason, learned to fit into the system, and became a leader.

It also helped that he had Moss and Brunnel... and that defense...

Re: Season Game Ball?

If it were my season ball to give, I'd have to give it to the coaching staff... as far as the team goes, there were times in the season where the offense carried a big play vulnerable D, and there were times when the D has won games for us by themselves.. and all of the players are as valuble as the next... so I couldn't give a game ball to any specific player. I don't think one player on this team deserves any more recognition than the next, but I think they all deserve alot.

You have to look at guys like Robert Royal, Ladell Betts, Walt Harris, Ade Jimoh, and all of the other unheralded players on this team that have made the season look like we've been almost injury free, and have allowed us to perform no matter who was in the lineup... the season has been the epitomy of a team effort week in and week out, and that's how you win ballgames consistantly.

JOE GIBBS!
Who proved you can polish a turd. The Skins were shit on a stick for over ten years. Under Spurrier the Redskisn were the laughing stock of the NFL.
Joe Gibbs brought winning football back to the Wahington Redskins..Joe Gibbs!
For all the impatient folks that second guessed Gibbs last year, all the negative shit that was said last year when Gibbs was struggling to turn the team around, ..."the game passed him up, he is too old, his play calling is too consevative, bad clock management, he is no GM etc. etc."
It takes time to inspire and condition a loser to be a winner. IN the day of instant gratification, old school Gibbs reminds us that the good things are worth waiting for and working for.
Gibbs is building a winner the right way. If it takes a little time, so be it.

I agree with you 100%. The way Gibbs builds teams piece by piece and step by step is really amazing. Some would say he's very stubborn in his approach. But it works. I truly believe next year we'll be comparing the 2006 Washington Redskins to the 1991 Redskins.

Re: Season Game Ball?

I pick Portis, but in reality this is a really tough question because Brunell and Moss are deserving.

Re: Season Game Ball?

I love all these guys!!! But many of them should be doing these things! They are great players and were payed and drafted or traded to do these jobs! They all should get balls! But one has been asked to do something the rest have not! Play another spot they had never played before. Marshall as Gibbs said is a great outside LB! But this season was moved inside because all the other player set to play there didn't work out for what ever reason. He has not just fill in but done a great job!!! Thank God for that because who whould have do it?

Re: Season Game Ball?

Gotta vote ENTIRE REDSKINS TEAM! (Other)

Portis, Moss, Cooley, Brunell had franchise or personal best years. The offensive line has somehow turned into the hogs in the last 7 games or so. The defense has kept us in every game EXCEPT 1! 1 game. Coaching staff have reacted well with possible distractions. Even Antonio Brown won the AZ game for us back when it looked really bleak. Team effort, team game ball. Let's not guild it until we figure our placing. Cause WIN 4 and WIN THE BIG SHOW!!!

Re: Season Game Ball?

I definitely think Moss gets it because i think he is our hero and absolutely amazing. A close second is definitely Portis. Not to mention they both broke records in that last game.

Re: Season Game Ball?

MB gets my vote. He was given up for dead last year and played as good as ever this year. There is no way the skins would be in this position had Gibbs stuck with PR at QB.
