Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Oh, you know Bruce and Dan love the drama too. They believe, like Jerry Jones, even bad news is good because folks are talking about the team and the NFL.
But get ready for the DC media to go hard trashing everybody and stirring it up after the WS is over. My question is this, how will Bruce trash Trent in leaks to the press? that train is never late

I don't buy the notion that TW's stock goes down just because he will have 1 year left on his deal vs 2. Anyone who trades for him will need to give him a new deal anyway, so it's a moot point.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Agreed. If anything, his stock may go up a bit. Trents has quite an injury history. He misses several games a year due to various injuries and then has played through several injuries that would have kept most other guys out. Assuming he's staying in shape and taking care of himself, I imagine taking an entire year off of football will have done a lot to help him get in healthier than he's been his entire career.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
An accrued season is a season during which a player has been on a team’s roster for six or more regular season games.
- Players will receive an accrued season while on the team’s roster, receiving their full pay while on the active/inactive lists and injured reserve list. - Players will not receive an accrued season while on the team’s practice squad, physically unable to perform (PUP), non-football injury (NFI), or the Exempt Commissioner Permission list. https://www.hogshaven.com/2019/7/13/...nce-in-the-cba ------------------------------------ Trent needs to be on the Skins active, inactive or IR for 6 or more games to earn an "accrued" year. What can Bruce do to keep him from earning an accrued season? - Practice Squad? no, he would be eligible to be signed to another teams 53. - Commish Exempt List? no, Trent hasnt done anything negative off the field. AP was placed on this for the child abuse charges while the league was deciding whether to suspend him or not. NFLPA filed a grievance on his behalf. - NFI and PUP? Maybe. Are we entering Albert Haynesworth territory? Trent says he is healthy enough to practice but then "sprains an ankle" before kick off? Does he have to maintain a thin line of being healthy enough to practice but not healthy enough to play? What stops the skins from putting him on PUP the second he complains of any minor thing? Apparently, if Trent showed up for just one practice in the pre season and then held out, the Skins would not be able to put him on the PUP list this season. "If a player practices during training camp, they are not eligible for the PUP list. Instead, the team has to cut the player or put them on injured reserve." https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/pup-list...njured-reserve

Both sides are going full hardball at this point, and the Skins have by far the stronger leverage. Trent's next move is to simply retire. |

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
What a shit show -- all around. I am trying to think of another situation in which a popular, star player with so long a tenure with a team (playing through injury and otherwise showing leadership) had a beef with a team blow up like this. I just can't think of one.
Not absolving Trent of mishandling this, but man this sort of thing seems to happen to only one team.

And that'll also help in trade negotiations.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Apparently it could cost him $6 mil, but I'm not sure it has any impact on an accrued season since he reported...but I can't find anything on that. That would be big, if there's still two seasons left on his contract.

I'm sure he's gonna fight it but fuck him at this point. Just wish we had traded him already so we could have a spare pick and he'd be out of our hair. Instead we gotta talk about him until the new league year starts. |

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Idk .. is it you have to be on the PUP list prior to TC or you cannot have practiced during TC. Practically speaking, I imagine it means the same thing in 99.99% of situations but here, Trent might be that unique case.
He might be PUP eligible. I really dont know. I am reading conflicting things every day as we get into the deep minut of the CBA ..that I dont think covers this situation directly. Whats done is done, Im just going to sit back and watch it play out. Im Trent > Bruce but at this point, post trade deadline .... I really dont care too hard what happens now.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
We could have a draft pick to talk about, now we’re discussing how TW gets his year credit and doesn’t play for us. 19 out of 32 teams made trade deals this season. Most losing teams are being aggressive. BA and Snyder do nothing.
We’ll loss Scherff - he’s not even talking to us anymore. Another hole in the OL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
