Not so sure a converted WR is gonna be used primarily as a blocker...

But I agree that they won't break up the Cooley/Davis duo. Fred is a bong hit away from a 1 year suspension.

At the end of the day I think he restructures his contract and sticks around.

Re: cooley done in dc?

I love Cooley. Great Redskin. Keep him on.

That being said, and I know he played a bit of FB last year, but did anyone notice in the above compilation how many damn screen passes he caught? At least 50-60% of those highlights are screen passes. GEEZ....... Lets hope with RG3, the bootlegs, and some actual weapons at WR, we can actually threaten teams down the field this year. If we do, you'll see the average yardage on those screens JUMP up.....

We're simply not a good enough football team to let go of good football players. Find a way to keep Cooley.

If Cooley can play at the level that he played in in 2008, and Fred Davis plays at the level he did last year, the Redskin offense with RG3 and its receivers will be unstoppable. Although Mike Shanahan likes running the football a lot, I can see us being a passing team mostly.

Lets bring Art Monk back and have him play at a 1984 level for us to The 2008 Cooley is long gone and this old man is all that's left...

Re: cooley done in dc?

29 is the new 89 I guess.

He doesn't have to be the 2008 CC, the 2010 one would be just fine.

His body is shot. He's an old ass 29 with knee problems. His knee only feels good now because he's not playing any games on it. I guess we will find out this summer. I don't see him making the team.

I saw a stat on ESPN that showed we had the fourth lowest percentage of running plays in the league last season. Under 40% of our plays were runs. Based on that, I'd say we are already a passing team. We're just not a very effective passing team yet.

Agreed, but in 2013 pack your bags Chris. This is a business and we will be 18 million short again next season so some will have to go.

Re: cooley done in dc?

With the news that the Skins will not be getting any cap back, I think this all but seals it for Cooley's departure on this team unless he's willing to take one hell of a pay cut. Cutting him would save the team 2.3 mil in cap space. You simply can't have a 2nd string TE that's slated for a 6 million dollar cap value.

I know fans love Cooley, but this is a business. Now, if he restructures to take much less, I could see him being back.

Shanny doesn't run that offense typically, when you are behind you pass more.

I'm sure he's going to re structure, as well as some other players.

Re: cooley done in dc?

He will probably re-structure. He probably knows that he isn't going to be a starter unless there is an injury in the NFL. His body is very broken down at 29. He is a great guy but he has had alot of injuries over the years. He might make a very good backup. We will see.

Re: cooley done in dc?

I hope they keep him, but I could understand if they drop him or trade him if possible. Cooley is one of the last Gibbs II guys on the roster, if he isn't indeed the last one left. It will sad if they did get rid of him. He is a great player still and is a team guy.
