Precisely what I was thinking.

Damn. Hopefully (crossing my fingers) he gets re-signed and put on IR. If the patriots pick him up I will officially hate them the most of any team in the NFL.

Re: Chase Minnifield Waived

Maybe Trent or the other young corners are looking better. Sometimes cutting a player is always for the best. It was an injury that caused Minnefield to go undrafted in the first place. If this is injury related then the coaches have to be fair to the other players that are competing for a spot on the roster.

If Vinny Cerratto was still in charge of player personnel, that would have been the case.

Remembering when Phillip Daniels went down, and Vinny stupidly traded a 2nd and change for Jason Taylor... yeah Vinny would definitely spend a 2nd on a replacement for Chase.

If he wasn't drafted due to injury issues and is already to hurt to play this year I would be surprised if another team comes in to snag him.

Re: Chase Minnifield Waived

This seems like a pretty good time to try to get him through waivers. No one who is at the 90 man roster limit is going to want to cut anyone right now.

There are a number of teams who have unused roster space that could be threats.

Re: Chase Minnifield Waived

I'm just glad Minnefield wasn't selected by the Redskins in the draft. If not for that injury, he would have been drafted. But obviously the man is still hurt. If he clears waivers then that would be good news.

Something i dont get with Ballard, or Minnifield if the same thing happens, is doesnt the claiming team have to carry the player against a roster spot? I get that its no big deal right now because 90 players are allowed but at some point doesnt the player cost against the 53 man roster or dosnt the claiming team have to waive the player, exposing the player to be claimed, before adding him to their own IR?

Is the whole purpose of waiving a player before adding him to IR just to restructure his contract first? Could Chase have been added to IR without being exposed to waivers?

Smootsmack, speak up on this because I am sure you know the answer, but by resigning Minnifield just to put him on the IR means that the Skins will pay him something for the right to be first in line next year to have him on thier team?

UDFA vs. 2nd-round pick though.

Shame, I had high hopes for this kid. Hope he comes in next year and makes the team.
