Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense

8-8 Is what I say now, will change after TC & Pre-Season Games.
R Griffin 3: 3800yds passing 66% passer rating, 27tds 14ints, 400yds rushing 8tds.
Helu 1300yds rushing 500 rec, 7tds.
Royster 900 yds rushing 200 rec 8tds
Garcon 1100yds 10tds
Moss 1000yds 7tds
Tank 900yds 5tds
F Davis 1000yds 4tds

OF rank 18th
DF rank 9th

I know everything dosen't match up, but these are just ball-park figures.

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense

Well, I'd normally come in with some idea that the Skins went out and somewhat fixed the OL, have decent RB's, and have a stable of WR's, and all they had to do was bring in a viable QB and this team could be a winner.

Or ... I'd present that the team lost by 3 to 7 points most of the games they lost in and that with the new QB and his ability to avoid a sack and a more accurate arm I can foresee this team winning more then having lost.

Then I go and look at the magazines and see most have us listed in 4th place in the NFCE and only going 7-9.

I stopped reading those mags after they continuously had Dallas in the sb. Lol I mean I swear they r always so damn over hyped, it's been 17 that's right 17 years since their last title!

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense

I expect the offense to at least be as good as last year when it was 16th in yards.
But, I look for an uptick in points.
Last year it was 26th in scoring with 18 pts a game.

Regardless of the reasons that guided Kyle's previous offenses, I expect a more balanced offense then what we've seen thus far.
I expect an offense that will have a run focus similar to Houston's offense last year and more in keeping with a typical Mike Shanahan's Denver WCO's (especially with Jake Plummer).
I also expect a sprinkling of some read option concepts in the offense.
No where near as much as Denver or even the Panthers.
(^^Although I think it would be a great concept or idea)
I expect to see a lot of boot action/boot keep passing and 5-7 step drop play action passing.
To establish the boot action/play action passing attack I expect more rushing attempts which in turn will create more rushing yards.
The increase in rushing attempts will cause corresponding decrease in passing attempts which will cause a decrease in passing yards.

My expectations for the Griffin's level of success and the teams W-L rest mainly on the shoulders of Kyle Shanahan.
I don't think Griffin will need to run spread or read option concepts to be successful, nor do I expect that Kyle would add a lot of the spread/read option concepts/plays.
I think Griffin is coach proof, he's so talented its gonna be hard to screw him uo.
I think its a no brainer that he'll do well in this offense.
But, to exceed expectations and really have a good season (ala Newton, Andy Dalton) Kyle is gonna have to build an offense that allows Griff to not only play well for a rookie but to flourish.
But, again even running the same offense we had last year with a little more balance and without read-option or a lot of spread 5 wideout the offense with Griffin should still be good.

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense

We will get 9-7 and a wild card slot. Win the wild card round, pump up this fan base for the future and lose a close one in the second round of the playoffs.

And on the conservative side...

RGIII throws for 3500, 17 TD, 6 Rushing TD, 9 INT and wins offensive rookie of the year.
We have 2!!! 1000 yard rushers this year.
we have 2!!! 1000 yard receivers this year. (And a 1000 yard TE)

57% Comp percentage
3500 yards passing
24 Passing Tds
11 Ints
90 QB rating

500 yards rushing
7 Tds

P. Garcon will lead the team in catches (91)
F. Davis will lead the team in TD catches (11)
P. Garcon will lead team in Yards (1200)

Leading rusher = Roy Helu

and O Line will be much better with the presence of RGIII back there.

Davis and Garcon will be Pro Bowlers (maybe reserve but still)
This is best best case scenario. Glass half full, huh?

I agree with 30gut's "uptick in points".

Lol!! I hear ya, there is a great chance Kyle is gona screw this up. After watching his pregame speech to the offense before the Eagles game last year i lost what little hope i had in him. There is no way he has gained any respect in the locker room. And then the new secondary coach talking smack during practice punking him down. Shakin my head. But i think RG3 maybe smart enough to overcome daddys little helper.

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense

We act like Kyle has never run a successful pro offense in his career. Sure it had nothing to do with abysmal offensive talent. That with the additions is still fairly mediocre. No #1 WRs have stood out, no stud RBs, and an okay OL.

So, does that put the B&G at 7-9, 8-8, 9-7, 10-6? Or just one more win than last year? And speaking of wins, how about our record against NFCE opponents? Remember, you're half full of it, I mean your glass is half full!

I really like this comment. While everyone likes to bag on KS's playcalling, you do have to realize that he has kept the offenses head above water, and out of the bottom half of the league in alot of the rankings and barometers with an awful, just AWFUL OLine and wide receivers, not to mention the absolutely ATROCIOUS John Beck and Rex "Gross, Man...." I think with the talent we have added at QB, WR and plus another year in the system for our youngsters, a healthy OLine and a chip on Fred Davis' shoulder to show he is the real deal instead of screwing it up, expectations for KS SHOULD be high, and I for one really think that our offense will light it up in comparison to the years of the past, ie not being able to break 20 points in a season. I can almost guarantee that if RG3 stays healthy, that we will have more games above 20 points than below. Just thinking back two years ago, look how much he did with so utterly little talent on this squad. I mean, Rabach, our pen of old washed up WR's, Grossman, a broken cooley, Moss injured and not 100%, rookie runningbacks and a castoff from the Arizona Cardinals (their 2nd or 3rd stringer................

Kyle will prove his worth this year, and I for one am ready to sit down and watch the fireworks!!!!!!!!!!!

I think realistic expectations should be around 8-8

W/L vs NFCE?

1-1 against NYG
2-0 Vs Dallas
0-2 Vs Philly ( I think the Eagles will be very good this year)
