But it is nice to have all the movie reviews compartmentalized under the movie thread.
What cause did you relate to?

I don't remember starting a movie review thread. Just asking people if they were catching the movie this weekend. Nothing more nothing less. No need to get all ES on me.

Re: Avengers Movie

I know Lebron James is going to go see it.

In all seriousness though I think it's a terrible idea. Way to many characters from average to below average movies splitting screen time just doesn't work for me. It's corny and forced. Reminds me a bit of Mortal Kombat Annhilation where they just tried to shove as many characters in as possible granted the movie had worse problems then character development but the lack there of didn't help.

I dont think you understand the Avengers.
It was a hella big comic in its day.
And its currently raking it in at the box office.

If you're not up on your comic books or just not into the superhero thing, you're probably not going to appreciate this movie. The other movies, more or less, were made to lead up to the Avengers movie. From what I have heard just from the midnight showings last night, the movie is clearly one of the best superhero movies ever made. Of course, I want to see it with my own two eyes before I agree with that statement.

Marvel's The Avengers - Rotten Tomatoes

It's got a 93% rating on RT right now which is saying a lot. They normally kill these types of movies.

i think giving iron man, captain america, thor, and hulk their own movies took care of their character development. i believe jeremy renner's character is based on his character from hurt locker

I thought it was based on Jem from The Town? Oh well, agree to disagree.

Well they had been leading up to this one for about 4 years. Giving background development all the way back to Iron Man 1. So when Loki tapped Starks heart and he retorted, it's already hard (or whatever) , everyone got the joke without retelling the creation of Iron Man.

I thought it was really well laid out, and was much more on the team development than any one character. The only ones shorted were Scarlet Johanson and the archer, because they came in with no huge background, and so some of that did seem forced, but overall, I thought it was very well played.

Really a top notch movie from my perspective.

Re: Avengers Movie

'The Avengers' smashes domestic box office record for opening weekend - CNN.com

$641.8 million worldwide already and $30 million more in its opening weekend than the previous record holder!! I saw it for my 3rd time yesterday and it was just as awesome as the first time. It was definitely worth the years of waiting for this to be properly done.

Re: Avengers Movie

I've seen Iron Man and Thor. Both of which I really enjoyed.

I'm not into comic books but I definitely wanna go see this.

Re: Avengers Movie

Also, just a side note from a comic book geek, most if not all of the Avengers are either non-mutant or an alien. The main characters that originated the Avengers are Thor (from Asgard), Iron Man is really nothing more than the equivalent to Batman (Tony Stark = Bruce Wayne, both rich and just normal men), Captain America again just a normal man on the juice, and the Hulk the product of a gamma ray radiation experiment gone awry.

I mean the list of Avengers is very long, even Spider-Man at one point joined the Avengers.

But my point to this is that for the most part the Avengers are non-mutant Superheros...
