Re: A moment of silence...

I remember seeing this guy on tv and stuff. Cool cat, I never knew much about him but I guess he touched me in a way.

May God guide him to a better place.

They were silent screen actors. They were only silent in front of a camera while a mime paints his face and pretends he's in a different world in front of anyone. (no camera needed)

Guys like Chaplin did get their start as mimes though. And being a mime technically speaking isn't about painting your face

But anyway, the greatness of Chaplin is a discussion for another day

RIP

I remember watching Chaplin movies in 2 different college classes, because the man was such a freakin' genius.
We watched Modern Times in Sociology of Organizations (or something like that) because we were talking about the ways technology and your job affect your daily life.
And then we watched City Lights in Philosophy of Tragedy and Comedy because he embodied the perfect tragic hero who used comedy to overcome his lot in life.

I'm sure all of his movies could have been used throughout college, he was that insightful.

Re: A moment of silence...

I'm a huge Chaplin fan (Buster Keaton is no slouch either). One of my favorite things to do when I just need some peace is to just sit back, pop in a Chaplin movie and enjoy. Modern Times and City Lights are two of the best movies I've ever seen. Not to mention Gold Rush.
