Re: Internet Spelling Errors.....

Or you can always just copy and paste into Outlook or Word and run spell check there.

I've told him that unless you clean that up and improve it I will never be in a position to promote you, no matter how good you are at the analysis. He's young and he's got time, but it has to be taken seriously because if you can't intelligently communicate your thoughts then all the quality thought and analysis in the world doesn't get anybody anywhere.

It's a fundamental skill, if you don't have it you're nearly worthless in a corporate work environment.

Google Search

Yep, I use that all the time.

As Matty mentioned FireFox has a 'live' spellcheck so it corrects as you type. If it's that big a deal then that should be an easy choice.

I hear what you are saying but there are some folks where that rule doesn't exist for them. We have two senior analysis in my office who are basically math genius. They make in the $150 - $200k range. Every cost model I make has to be blessed by them before the Army ever looks at them. With that said I am shocked whenever they spell their names correctly. They have such poor writing skills.

Any cost model or presentation they put together must be hand down and then rewritten/tweaked so that it can be read at a high level.

I have developed countless power point presentations for them so that their numbers can be understood by the customer.

It amazes me but they are so good at what they do folks turn a blind eye to their spelling/grammar.

Re: Internet Spelling Errors.....

Actually when I try I can write something that makes sense with correct spelling. My problem posting is that I'm not going to look up how to spell bigger words to post on a football site and allot of times I don't read what I have posted. Sorry

You may have dyslexia of words vs. numbers. Most folks attribute dyslexia just to numbers but it can be both words and numbers or one or the other.

I beleive I have dyslexia of words to a degree but when it comes to numbers my mind is nearly photogenic them. For instance we refer to inflation indices quit a bit in my job, I have nearly ever fiscal years percent increase memorized on our master chart. Yet I can never remember how to spell these words:

remember
especially
i nthe (always type it this way)
waht (always type it this way)

There are others but you get the point.

And yes I agree everyone's level of writing is probably not well documented on here since it is a casual football form.

Id be screwed if not for Google Search. What i dont understand is why Google doesnt implement something based off their search suggestions into the spell checker embeded in Chrome and GMail? I find googles spell checker to be better then microsoft’s but it still doesnt deliever nearly as well as Google Search…

Re: Internet Spelling Errors.....

Also i would bet a lot of the forum members here have learned English only as a second language, so their spelling may not be nearly as good as those who have know American English their entire lives.

firstdown was English your native language?
