Re: Toyota loses ground in reliability report; Ford models make impressive showings

Who the eff cares where the car is made? Are people so rich that they can afford to buy a car based on whether or not the people who put it together are Americans???

When I buy a car, I think about two things, safety and reliability. And when I think about reliability, I'm mainly concerned about how often is the damn thing going to break, and if it does break, how much am I going to have to pay to fix it?

Bottom line for me is does the car work, because I'd much rather spend my money on Redskin tickets than fixing a beater. Where the car is from matters ZERO to me.

Do you have a link to this, I would like to shove it in my Toyota driving sister's face. She bought a Yoda because she thought it was more American because the dealer told her about a plant in Indiana.
The VIN is the easiest place to look to see where a car was made. The first digit in the VIN tells you where the vehicle was "put together":
J - Japan
1 or 4 - USA
2 - Canada
3 - Mexico

SAE has specified a lot more than this, but her car should be one of those.

say what you want, but i always have, and always will buy American. how can i bitch about this administration, or any, for shipping production jobs out of out country, if i drive a Toyota? i drive a 2003 Chevy Tahoe, that runs like a champion. i really believe if you take care of your car, it will last forever. 4 years, and the only money i put into it was for general service

I'm not general a Ford man, but I hope this spells good news in the future for my mustang I bought last year.
