Re: Ron Rivera fired
Incorrect. It is a smart move. They wait to see if he gets hired as a HC, if he does, we get a pick in 2025 I believe under the NFLs minority hire/development program. If we just cut him loose, we wouldn't. We can always cut him loose later if he isn't picked up.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profoo...ives-explained The employer-club shall be eligible to receive this Draft choice compensation if: a. The minority employee hired as a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive has been employed by the employer-club for a minimum of two full seasons; and b. The minority employee is not the Head Coach or Primary Football Executive of the employer-club and is hired into the same position with the new club. There can be no break in employment between clubs. The word and instead of or is confusing to me. EB could fall under b but doesn't meet the a.

Re: Ron Rivera fired
Not targeting anyone but the attention to detail in this thread is lacking.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...nders-overhaul The link clearly says Bob Myers (former Warriors GM - won 4 titles/2 Finals losses in the last 10ish years) and Rick Spielman (former Vikings GM for 10+ seasons) are going to lead the search for a new Head of Football Ops/GM/HC. Whoever they hire will determine the fates of the rest of the staff including Hurney/Mayhew (who I both assume will be gone).
