Let's face it, SmootSmack probably has a contract 2 years longer than his value. This is a Redskins board.

Mershawn Lynch intrigues me the most. It feels like he could be had for our fourth round pick and he's only 24 years old. Then again we have like infinity billion running backs and negative infinity billion draft picks. Lynch also has a handful of legal problems. However, and you probably know more about this then I do, but how did he get into Cal Berkley without being smart?

I mean I know they probably didn't hold him to the same standards going in as their other students but to attend Cal-Berkley something has to be working right in that otherwise messed up head of his. Then again UGA has some pretty loose standards with athletes. I've had friends with 1,300 SAT scores that have been denied admittance while hearing about athletes with 800 SAT scores.

Found this on Mershawn:

What makes Lynch so fascinating to me — besides the fact that we’re both, at the moment, North Oaklanders — is that he was considered a stand-up character guy in his three years as a Cal Golden Bear. He was a model player, a regular “Mama’s Boy” — which he had tattood in giant letters on his back. And he was unselfish, shy, team- and family-oriented, a future NFL-er who avoided trouble and never did anything wrong on or off the field, while maintaining a 3.0 GPA at UC Berkeley.

^I just don't think Lynch would be possible since we are just about out of draft picks -- unless Buffalo would be willing to take Portis and another player in exchange. Portis has to be on Shanny's shit list. If there's to be a metamorphosis on the roster with getting the 'attitude guys' out of the locker room, I don't see how Portis isn't a part of that.

The next area of scrutiny has to be our wideouts. Other than maybe Devin Thomas, I don't see anything at that position which shows hope for the future.

Speaking of our wideouts, check out ESPN on the Brandon Marshall saga.

Quote:
The Washington Post reported this week that the Redskins still may be in play for Marshall after trading the No. 37 overall pick (and a conditional pick next year) for Donovan McNabb. The Post reasons that the Redskins may want to pair Marshall with McNabb to make a fast run in the NFC East.

It was thought a Marshall deal would be out of the question after the Redskins gave up their second-round pick for McNabb. It would be a shock if the Redskins gave up the No. 4 pick for Marshall. If it wants him, perhaps Washington would be willing to give up their first-round pick in 2011 for Marshall.

It's going to take creativity to make Denver happy if a 2010 first-round pick is not part of the deal. Washington leaders Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen are known for being aggressive. If the Redskins want Marshall, they could go get him.

^I wouldn't rule out that possibility. Probably one of the very last options they would consider.

Immaturity and bad decisions are not a direct line correlation to a lack of intelligence.

That being said, I would have been in favor of going after Lynch before we stocked up at RB with veterans but I think Portis, Johnson, Parker and Alridge will give us a nice rotation that provides a decent balance of power and speed for 2010.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Some of the players that coach has aquired will be conditioned and trained then be applauded by the team in the summer just to be used as trade bait. The plan that is being implemented will last all summer and into this season. I just hope they do not get a reputation for being sneaky, just smart.

Redskins | Shanahan says Tebow could play special teams initially

Thomas George, of NFL Fanhouse, reports Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he could use Florida QB Tim Tebow on special teams initially if the team were to select him in the NFL Draft due to his size and physicality. "I think the guy is such a competitor. Wherever he ends up playing he will do a good job," Shanahan said. "He is such a worker. How are you going to use him? How long will you give him to develop? He is such an athlete. You know he is going to work. Maybe you put him on special teams. He has the size of a linebacker or tight end. He is not afraid of hitting people. It's a way to use him more and early on the 45-man roster. I wouldn't hesitate to do that.''
