Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

They went by their board and grabbed guys they liked. My personal opinion was the TE/WR were reaches, but these are their guys and they did the work and filled 2 important spots.

My hope is Coleman is a tackle as opposed to guard. Ben Standig says the plan is LT which is great.

Everyone needs to remember, 12 tackles were taken in the first and second round. Teams will be cutting some tackles to make room for the new guys. We will have the ability to fill in holes after the draft.

Great draft so far!

Wish we didn't trade back with the Eagles, who took DeJean, but we got two extra 2nd round picks. I think Coleman has a real shot to start at LT week 1. We needed a TE, so I don't think Sinnot was a reach. His game reminds me of Dallas Clark, Cooley, Heath Miller.

Cooley was the comparison that immediately came to my mind when I first saw Sinnott. It won't be long before we all love this player.

Cooley that can block. Cooley was not a good run blocker.
Sinnott is mentioned in several different publications as a good blocker.

Dude's a beast. He can block, run, catch... don't be surprised if he ends up being the best TE taken this year.

Yes, the true grade of this draft will be in a year or three. Not today or yesterday.
I think some of the naysayers here would have slit their wrist during Bobby Beatherds best drafts back in 1981 - 1986. Nobody knew the names of people like Monte Coleman, Darryl Grant, UDFA Jeff Bostic and UDFA Joe Jacoby.
More recently Brock Purdy of SF comes to mind. This is not an exact science and anyone picked anywhere can become a HOF.
Let’s let the cake bake before we…..
Some talk like their player evaluations today of players that have never played in the NFL is set in stone.

I like the draft so far. Coleman is listed as a T by the team. Look at pictures/measurables/test scores, he definitely has the physical attributes. Him and Sinnot were 2 guys I wanted after Round 1.

Newton was a 1st round talent. I'll never get mad with going BPA with a trench player. BPA, not reaching like with Mathis.

Is this opinion good enough for y'all?

"I LOVE... there's a difference between love and LOVE... I LOVE this guy. This guy may be the best football player pound-for-pound in the draft." - Nick Saban on Michigan CB Mike Sainristil, selected by the Commanders at No. 50.

This was my favorite pick yesterday.

My biggest surprise wasn’t waiting on a tackle, but we didn’t draft an edge.

Definitely agree with adding more size with the receivers this offseason with Ertz, McCaffrey and Sinnott.

A lot to like about this draft so far… don’t really get the negativity by some although the haters seem to be in the minority

Adam Peters - "You can never have too many good d-linemen."

I like it.

Well, three picks today (two 5s and a 7). Don't really care what position as these will be development picks.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

Wondering if Ridgeway is in trouble, as he was at Dallas, yet we spend our most precious pick, other than QB, on a DT. Dan Quinn knows Ridgeway very well I would think. Also, LT roster cuts? Like who would do that? Maybe pick someone off a practice squad. And whoever said we improved at every position is ignoring many spots, LT, DE, outside CB, backup QB, strong safety, c'mon, we have not improved these all.

We improved at DE thru FA. Hopefully we find a S in 5-7. Peters has a habit of getting great value on late secondary picks. Backup QB? I mean Mariota is an ok backup. Corners will hopefully be helped with scheme and coaching… i have my doubts about BSJ. LT seems to be a major issue but who knows. It certainly is a better roster than last year. Isn’t as doom and gloom as you seem to think. Not as rosy as others think. We are not competing for a championship in 2024 most likely. However Rome wasn’t built in one draft.

My main concern is protecting JD through year one. Anyone who says they aren’t concerned about that is fibbing. Lol
