Can we get JR's take on this? I imagine he's probably seen judges slam the book on people for a lot less.

Dumb move on Johnson's part. Can't disrespect a courtroom.

I forgot that McDaniels is back in NE, which really explains the logic behind signing Tebow to the team.

You are right, but I don't think Tebow is even worth the roster spot because trick plays don't get called much, if not every game. And not to mention there's the media circus. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I agree, I don't see the point either.

Baltimore Ravens will look to trade Vonta Leach or release him, source says - ESPN

This is one of those guys who just wins. Move Rice 10 spots down on your draft board.

I really like this because we are going to see immediately just how smart that Flacco contract was...the affect on the team already has been tremendous. If the team wins and Flacco is good, he will deserve a ton of praise, but if he is even average to above average, team average he will deserve everything that is coming his way.

Ive seen judges not slam the book for alot more.

Cant disrespect the court room, but 30 days is excessive imo.

Ehh..I mean I wouldn't go that far. You really think so? So if you had the option of keeping Matt Ryan, Doug Martin and Ray Rice, you'd keep...?

The 30 days isn't for the slap. That 30 days is for the violation of parole. The slap just showed her that he wasn't serious about the situation and denied the plea agreements between the prosecution/defense. It would have been contempt of court had she punished him for the slap itself. Also, according to the ESPN article and her quote, that wasn't the first time he's acted that way in her court. So something tells me that it wasn't this incident alone either, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I highly doubt he's going to do the full 30 days.

I see this as a no-cost win/win.
The win for Tebow is obvious. Gets back in football. Minimal controversy, so he can move past the past. Back with McDaniels, and can develop.

The win for the Patriots is less obvious, but also costs them nothing unless he proves he can be of value, but also, they bring in a guy who has lifted the play of an entire team (Denver). No one in their fan base is going to go Tebow crazy, so they can just look him over in camp and preseason, and see if he can be a fit. The biggest part of the win, is he is a competent camp body that gets their defense thinking outside of the box, and their offense is so stable they can afford to take a few practice snaps out of Brady's hands to let the defense see other looks.

This.

She didn't think he was taking things serious and was treating the Court with disrespect AND it was not an isolated incident. You want to piss off a judge, turn his/her courtroom into a comedy club. While I was surprised she acted so harshly (rejecting the plea agreement), it was certainly not outside the realm of judicial responses I have seen. Most judges take court room decorum VERY seriously. Serious sh** happens there and they expect everyone to behave accordingly.

As NC said, the 30 days wasn't for contempt. It was b/c she refused his plea deal.

Re: NFL News Offseason Style

So Joe will he serve 30 days then? Also, could she have suspended time...say 25 days, 29 days?
