Re: Chris Cooley for a 1st and a 3rd -- would you do it?
I'll take that trade, improbable as it is. I love Chris Cooley but a 1st and 3rd is a great trade. Fred Davis is going to be a Cooley clone in the next few years. With that extra pick IMO.
Pick #4 - Russell Okung or Sam Bradford Extra 1st Pick - Mike Iupati or Trent Williams Pick #36 - Jahvid Best or Charles Brown Extra 3rd - Dan Lefevour or Toby Gerhart That would be a lot of offensive help for the future which IMO outweighs having 2 good TEs with average/poor O-line.

I would trade cooley for a 2nd round pick right now. This team has needs to fill and could use another draft pick much more then excess depth at the TE position. I have a feeling when the redskins call though it will be Davis the teams want and not Cooley.

Re: Chris Cooley for a 1st and a 3rd -- would you do it?
Of course that would be the case for most teams, because Davis is 5 years younger and more athletic. That said, I still believe Cooley is the steadier player today, and probably has 3-4 solid years before he declines due to advancing age. If we can get a 2nd round pick for Cooley, we would have to consider that.

Stop trying to trade Chris Cooley!
And start trying to imagine how a top flight NFL mind will actually utilize our one area of strength on the offensive side of the ball. We have two dangerous tight ends. We just need to use them wisely. |

I agree that we shouldn't trade Cooley at all keep him & davis on the roster. The main thing I like about Shanny is he expressed that you base your plays and scheme around your players. We have two TE's that will cause multiple match up problems for defenses. We should keep that threat.

I agree with this statement. How many Redskins fans were saying Davis was a bust last season and early this season until he got his chance. Im sorry but we have to many fans who just dont know crap about NFL talent.

I can see Cooley being traded to Jets, since that's the team Snyder loves to trade with.

Re: Chris Cooley for a 1st and a 3rd -- would you do it?
I thing it depends on what is offered and what we would likely pick up with the pic/s . If we could get a 2nd and 4th , and then trade a 5th for scheffler < Denver > , that would make sense . I would like to keep Cooley and Davis , more formations that our opp's have to practice for .

Re: Chris Cooley for a 1st and a 3rd -- would you do it?
I would not want to trade Cooley for two reasons...first and foremost the guy is hardworking, doesn't cause problems, and plays well, the kind of guy we could use 53 of. Secondly, it would be nice to have two semi-proven pass catchers on the team in him and Davis who at least give us a semblance of a receiving corps. Until Moss shows his old self or Thomas/Kelly develops, I don't want to give up Cooley

Didn't read any of this..responding to title.
Of course we should do a trade like this...however, anyone willing to pay a 1st and 3rd for Cooley is a non-existant fool. I'd take a first for him...I seriously doubt we could get that...so I'd hold onto him

Re: Chris Cooley for a 1st and a 3rd -- would you do it?
Looking back, perhaps I should have adjusted the thread title to say "Would you trade Chris Cooley for draft picks" -- but I figured with Cooley being the fan favorite that he is, the price would have to be high or there'd be some irate people on this thread. Judging from the first few replies, even a 1st and a 3rd wasn't enough.
Really I just wanted to find out what people thought about exchanging their favorite player for more draft picks to address other areas of need. With Fred Davis looking like he's the real deal, people seem to be more receptive to the idea than they were before. And yes, a 1st and a 3rd would be highly unlikely. I'd still do it for a 2nd and a 5th though. |
