Trent USED to be "elite." He isn't anymore. He's a very, very good - but declining - tackle who is often injured. He's also a cancer. Yes, we shared the same enemy (Bruce), but that does not defend his actions or his motives. Trent wasn't the champion of the "fire bruce allen" movement because Bruce was a terrible, sleazy, front office executive. By Trent's own words, his dissatisfaction started because he asked for a new contract with 2 years left and was told No. At that point, he'd decided to hold out. The cancer-scare stuff happened later, and, instead of filing a grievance with the NFLPA (which is what a player would do if they had a legitimate concern), Trent leaked vague, but inflammatory reports regarding his treatment. When he finally did speak publicly, he made the incendiary and unsubstantiated claim that Bruce was a racist. Trent claimed that "no one" from the team called him or visited him when this was later proved to be false. Trent claimed he incurred $200,000 in travel expenses for his surgery when Snyder gave him his freaking private jet. He accused the team of telling him not to worry about the growth at the same time other reports confirmed that, years earlier, the team had suggested he see a specialist and Trent didn't make the appointment. Who are we to believe in all this? The Team and NFLPA both wanted to do an investigation, but Trent refused to allow it. Those telling the truth have nothing to hide.

Trent may have once been a positive team captain, but he turned into a cancer. This is not to say that Bruce Allen was free from blame, but you can't simply pretend this was all bruce's doing. Trent bears most of the blame for how this all played out. Competent, well-run franchises don't reward such toxic and insubordinate behavior with new contracts. It is my firm opinion that it is in everyone's best interest for Trent and the team to part ways.
Can you imagine if Trent did this stuff and he was playing with the Patriots? I mean this is just ridiculous. He would have been gone a long time ago. Get what you can for him and turn the damn page.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins

Bruce should have renewed or traded Trent (like any competent team would) and this wouldnt be what it is today.

Bruce just doesnt communicate with players and agents. Desean and Pierre both said at the end of their last season here that their agent has not gotten 1 phone call form Bruce. We learned during the Kirk Cousins saga that Bruce did not hold discussion for seasons except saying generic stuff like "we are 100% committed to signing Kirk Cousins" ... but then not talk with his agents.

Once Trent realized he wasnt going to get resigned or traded ... he admits he blew up.

Bruce sucks. Trent needs to go.

Put me in the bring Trent back camp. Lots of blame to go around last season and TW had his share. BUT. He's a guy who was seen as a team leader and brings a real nastiness to the line.

Personally, I am looking forward to TW and Flowers just blowing people up on the left side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-eZ...ature=youtu.be

I heard an interview with CT this morning driving in...he said from what he heard and what AP said the situation has totally changed with both guys gone who Trent had problems with.

More likely than not...expect a reunion

Noooooo. How dare we try to reconcile with a team leader who's very popular in the locker room while also being in the top ten at his position?

I think you bring back TW and Flowers, then Scherff will sign a contract. I believe Scherff is looking to see how our new staff is going to be run. The TW situation left a bad taste in the whole locker room.

Trent, Flowers, Roullier, Scherff, and Conklin (from the Titans) would be pretty brutal. Resign Penn for depth.

Yes, it would be incredibly brutal... to our salary cap. We already have the most expensive offensive line in the NFL by a mile.

Well right now according to Spotrac our OLine is 25th in cap hit at 26million. Dallas is #1 at 59million. So we have a ways to go to be the most expensive line.

Exactly, a lot of the stuff he did cannot be undone. The best indicator of future behavior is past behavior. What guarantee is there he doesn't have another meltdown if he is brought back?

I'd be willing to bet the locker room would welcome Trent back 110%.

Absolutely, they'd hold him up as the player's champion who went to battle with management and won. It would have a major galvanizing effect and Rivera knows it.
