I just want Andrew Luck. If he's our guy, and we all like him, lets just give up what we need to to get him.

You have to convince the colts first.

Ok instead of creating a new thread, this is pretty much reiterating the question, but

If your the Colts new GM, and you have a QB that is a proven HOFer but with uncertain health, and you have the first pick to get the next 'future HOF' player what would make you give up that first overall pick. Keep in mind Robert Mathis, Reggie Wayne, Jeff Saturday, and Pierre Garcon are potential Free Agents, so you may have holes at DE, C, WR, right there. What would make you give up your first overall pick to the redskins? Take off your wishful redskins caps and put on your 'colts fan/gm' caps.

Because finding a franchise QB is hard to do, it would have to make the Herschel Walker trade look like a minor swap.

This. Sorry, but I think the asking price will be well out of our league, no pun intended. I do wish the rams could have pulled out the shittiest record though. Then, all bets are off, and many more options would have presented themselves.

Nothing. I cut ties with Manning, draft Luck and move forward. Too much money and risk tied up in Manning at this point. Luck is the surest thing out there. Only the Cowboys have been able to capitalize on the "get a buttload of picks" scenario and make it work. Remember when we got the Saints entire draft? How did that work for us? Two number one picks in 2000? Again, how did that turn out?

It's the 'show-mo-no' theory. Never leave show money for mo money cause you may end up with no money! Andrew Luck is show money. A bunch of picks is mo money. You get all of those picks and squander them, you regret the trade for a decade, no money.

Manning and Luck won't be on the same roster, either Manning forces his release by not deferring his bonus or the Luck camp forces a trade to somewhere he can start from day one.

True, but at the same time, that trade was crazy back then, but today the way teams value picks, that trade would be insane! Can't remember how many players & picks were involved. I'm thinking the asking price for LUck, if there is one, might be more top heavy, 1st & 2nds mainly.

Re: What is Andrew Luck Worth?

Indy is going to draft Andrew Luck, no doubt about it. They know Manning is probably finished, and I think deep down inside, Manning probably knows it himself. If the Colts already had their replacement QB in place, then it would make plenty of sense for them to trade down and pick up a bunch of first and second round picks. But, in this situation, I would say there is a .000001% chance the Colts trade out of #1. But then again, crazier things have happened on draft day.

Did I hear correctly that the Colts new GM comes from the Eagles? Maybe the new GM will want to build the Dream Team II in Indy. LOL.

Assuming a good report on Mannings progress:

I'd consider trading this pick if the price is right.
1. Luck is no given.
2. Manning is one of the best QBs ever.
3. You need have alot of holes on your team.
4. You've got a really good shot at the SB in each of the next 3-4 years w/ PM and the extra draft picks. If you draft Luck, you might have a good qb on a bad team for a few years.

Well, actually he was responsible for their college player evaluation primarily. Will be interesting if the Colts adopt the same accumulate many draft picks philosophy the Eagles had. The Colts certainly need talent.

Louis Riddick is the Eagles "dream team architect" so to speak. Riddick, of course, was one of the worst FO executives here in Washington...yet no one ever speaks of that

Re: What is Andrew Luck Worth?

If I'm the new GM in Indy, I'm drafting Luck, however, i'll listen to offers if there is one that makes me have to think twice. What would make me think twice? When a team offers me at least 3 first rounders. At least 3 firsts and either a combination of picks and players and/or a fourth first rounder. The price will indeed be steep. But, if he's your guy and you MUST have him; Get Him!
