Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
No I do not like that move. 3 1sts, this team needs as many firsts as we can get to get the level of talent in DC it will take to win a championship.

Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
What really irritates me about this thread is the presumption that Mike will know what to do w/ a rookie QB. Don't talk to me about Cutler because he's not proven jack shit. Elway fell into Mike's lap, along with one of the best defenses in history and elite RB, TE and WR.
And don't overplay Mike's involvement w/ Montana, Young or anyone else. I haven't heard any of those guys give credence to Mike Shanahan as they do other coaches. The notion Mike can get "his special guy" after the top QB talent is gone and build a championship level team is about as likely as a Ron Paul presidency. It smacks of more egomania, much like the past string of misjudgements that led us to a Rex and Beck dynamic duo more than two years into the new regime.

I think you are being a bit one sided on this arguement. MS has a history of working w/ very good to great QB's. |

Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
The question is, what will the fans think if a QB isn't selected in the first round or two or three next year? We sure as hell were freaking out when it happened this year.

But, I think this season is much different. We HAVE to draft a QB. IF we don't, then I will start questioning the sanity of our front office. However, the FO has done a great job with player acquisitions, so I can't see them NOT drafting a QB unless a Bona fide, young, franchise QB is found in free agency.

that is the biggest problem in this franchise it has been run far too long by what the fan-base wants in hopes of generating ticket sales. Meaning they always made the flashy move vs. the best move for the club. No need to sell the farm on a Luck or RG3 if it is just going to handcuff use in other areas. Look at this way say you have a family four; all drivers. You have $50k to spend on cars for them. Would it make sense to buy a $50k SUV? While 3 other drivers won't have a car or would it be better to buy 4 $12.5k cars so everyone has one?

Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
At this point, I have given up on Luck. I want barkley, as he seems to break some trends of the "USC Quarterbacks" and would step in and succeed right away. Id give up a little to trade up for him if need be, but if we pick around 6 or 7 we should be safe.

Re: 2012 Draft-QB Prospects (Part III)
Does that also mean that we didn't say sign Matt Flynn...or trade for someone?
