Re: Sell OUR Team Danny Boy - DC Metro Bus Ads
I think sell the team sends the message more clearly. I don't think this is about getting Snyder to literally sell the team, as much as airing out a real sentiment that exists amongst the fans.
This message communicates more bluntly the collective and utter disgust with the direction of this franchise under Snyder's ownership. What other way to cut to the chase about how you feel about Snyder? So while I'm neither pro or con this project, I think sell the team conveys the real message. Everybody speaks in subtext these days.
Hey 12th...I love you man, and I say that because the message communicates more bluntly the collective and utter appreciation I have for your thoughtfull posts. What other way to cut to the chase about the way that I feel about your contributions to this forum. Don't feel left out Hooskins...I love you too. |

Not even close. I am in the middle of interviewing for an open position and until I get somebody hired I have to pull some additional hours. So the short answer is that, I am still at work.

I'm sorry but I think the "Sell our team" campaign is, in the long term, counterproductive and perhaps disastrous. "Change the team" is a much better message and is one that I would support.

Re: Sell OUR Team Danny Boy - DC Metro Bus Ads
Let me also say that Snyder is plenty embarrassed by what's going on right now. The latest move banning signs inside the stadium has already backfired and has had unintended consequences. Every media outlet has picked up this story and is running with it non stop, reinforcing the perception that Snyder is all about Snyder.
The thing is this ain't Detroit or Cleveland folks. People expect those teams to be bad and won't give a second thought about going to the playoffs better yet the Super Bowl. The Redskins, on the other hand, are a proud franchise with very loyal and proud fans, and a very proud city. We expect to win here. And after we're done winning, we hoist up our heroes and put them in the Hall of Fame. This is no ordinary decline by just another sports franchise. But what adds insult to injury, at least in the minds of the fans, is that those franchises are bad, in part, because they don't live in markets where NFL franchises can thrive long term. Snyder has spent millions upon millions and has fielded a very mediocre product for ten years. It's not that the Redskins are bad, we're expensively bad! |

He shouldn't make decisions based on what fans think. A good owner acts in the best interest of the team, in spite of what the fans want. Some of the brightest minds out there and complete morons when it comes to their fanhood.

Re: Sell OUR Team Danny Boy - DC Metro Bus Ads
First of all, the majority ownership thing is not gonna happen. The minority owners are made up of his sister and his mother among others. I also believe that a greater part reverted to him when one of the original group, Fred Drasner, was bought out. And he'll never move the team. He's a lofelong DC guy and the league makes it too difficult anyway (I wonder how the other owners would feel about a request to move due to being run out of town by the fans, LOL).
I also think the whole "Sell Our Team" theme is sending the right message. It may or may not get off the ground, but I guarantee you, DS is hearing every post of every thread (because he's compulsive like that). The guy has like 5 TVs over his desk tuned into all the sports networks. It definitely drives home the fact that he may own the franchise but it's "our" team. I'm totally sold that he is embarassed and gnashing his teeth about the whole situation and he has heads spinning 24/7 at Redskin Park trying to stop the hemorrhaging. So keep the pressure on.

Re: Sell OUR Team Danny Boy - DC Metro Bus Ads
I think a better way (and it may have already been mentioned) is to stop supporting the companies that sponsor the Redskins. Instead of Papa Johns or Popeyes chicken got to Jose's Chicken hut and Crazy Pete's Pizzaria....or whatever.
You have to make sure to let the company know the reason for you taking your buisness elsewhere. Be sure to specify that when they no longer have a buisness relationship with Washington, and only then will you patronize there buisness again. |

Re: Sell OUR Team Danny Boy - DC Metro Bus Ads
Exactly. I think the odds that Snyder moves the team are about as good as the odds of him selling it.
