that does sound like a good day.

this seems approaching inappropriate and I feel dirty for partaking.

Re: The Good News Thread

I quit smoking. Its been 8 days, 20 hours, 42 minutes, and 9 seconds but whose counting?
Usually dont toot my own horn, but this is something i have been wanting to do for some time. It has been surprisingly easy so far. I keep expecting to go on a killing spree or atleast sit down and plan one to take the edge off.
Really great app available called "smoke free" that sort of helped me along.

Hang in there punch. I've never smoked but I know lots of people who struggled. Happy for you.

You got this Punch. If you ever need some inspiration, apparently every year when spring rolls around hospitals get slammed with a bunch of people suffering from various smoker related diseases like COPD. Source: my dad who was in the hospital this spring with COPD related shortness of breath. On the bright side though, last week we just celebrated 6 months smoke free for him. If he can do that after 50 years of nonstop smoking I have no doubts you can too.

I hope your dad is feeling better. Does he take Symbicort? And thanks.

He's on various meds (which tbh I'm not totally sure the names of) but the big thing that helped him quit was a change in his mentality combined with the patch. His first hospital visit last year kinda woke him up about getting serious, he suffered a partial lung collapse along with the COPD diagnosis.

He did the first two stages of the patch but didn't even bother with the third because he reached the point where he wasn't even having cravings anymore. I think the change in mentality also helped because he had used the patch before without any luck, but once he got serious about it he was able to finally quit. Nowadays he can hang out with his smoker buddies while they're smoking and he still won't think twice about it.

Re: The Good News Thread

Went to work this morning with a smile on my face that my coworkers say won't leave my face! After 31 years I now have four weeks left to retirement and to add to that my wife who will still be employed for another five years informed me that our health insurance will be 375$ less than what I had estimated.Plans are to take six to seven months off try to get healthy again and then find a job to help keep me from going crazy.

Re: The Good News Thread

Even though my current problems are weighing me down, it's not all bad news for me. This week I will be leaving my current job at the dealership I've worked at for almost 5 years to take a similar position for the county. Better pay, better hours, way better benefits. Had a great Father's Day with my dad today and tomorrow celebrate 28 years of existence on this beautiful planet. Next week celebrate with my first of many 2 day weekends, a perk I haven't enjoyed in 3 years. Speaking of which happy Father's Day everyone!
