Read the research paper: https://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...66560321000438

It is far more telling than a random guys blog with a political agenda. This research has documented previous self reporting dating back several decades that shows conservatives are happier than liberals. It does only tell a portion of the story. You are going to be depressed if you view the social and economic inequality in the country as a problem. If you don't view it as a problem it isn't going to bother you.

Younger generations have learned to recognize and talk about things that are bothering them while older generations will internalize. However where do we see rising suicide rates? Middle aged white men that are far more likely to internalize than discuss feelings and seek help. They are far more likely to admit to depression, seek help but it doesn't mean they aren't.

Yeah, I’ve read it and Haidt, who isn’t a conservative but a 2-3 time best seller whose coddling of the young mind book should be required reading in high school. He’s well regarded. You should read his substack as he takes the research and is asking why. Goldberg from the times has written about it and came out with tech and social media, Matt Yglesias wrote about it with the research and said didn’t excuse it. Haidt has written about this long before this study, parenting and higher education is problematic.

Why the 2011-2012 upward spike for every category after straight lines for 10 years?…why are 56% lib women claiming a mental illness? Why are kids suffering from in a mental health crisis across the country?

One thing with Liberals that Haidt has pointed out is what he calls “Catastrophizing” of their issues. Example: the world is going to end in 9 years due climate change, not recognizing transgender people will lead too genocide, calling the police on people of color will likely lead to their death, Covid will never end and will eventually kill everyone, etc. His point is, if keep saying this hyperbolic statements (which most adults understand is political) in front of kids over and over, they will believe it. So what do you think will happen?

He’s also mentioned there is a problem within rich, white progressive kids…which upper middle class to wealthy coastal elites have become that base….they have the inconvenient identity where they need to adapt a “social signal” to identify with a marginalized group, people who have mental illness. Over prescribed, over diagnosed ailments.

Probably because trumptards revel in the hate and chaos.

Anyway what is the point of this? What 18 year old kid even knows anything about politics? Weren’t you a democrat at age 18? Maybe the hard right hides their childrens mental illness the same way they would if they were gay? It is a sign of weakness to them, unlike the decent parent that would seek help if their child were suffering with depression. There are so many things wrong with this study and the fact that you would post it as if being a liberal leads to mental illness. Jesus are these the things you latch onto in order to make yourself comfortable in your own head?

When you take a step back, it's amazing the trivial bullshit we waste our time and energy on. Skin color, sexual orientation, religion, who someone wants to marry, etc.

Life is too short, live your life. Stop worrying about what everyone else is up to especially when it comes to things that have zero impact on your day to day life.

I have hopes for Ivan Bates as the new Baltimore State's Attorney

https://foxbaltimore.com/morning/iva...-push-gun-bill

He has attended daily roll calls to hear directly from police and has a good working relationship with Commissioner Harrison.

He has reversed some of Mosby's stance such as not punishing lower level crimes and looking at it on a more case to case basis, but maintaining some of her policies like the police "do not call" list where he refuses to work with police on prosecutions that have known integrity issues.

I know nothing about this guy other than what you said - but it sounds good.

I keep saying it, no doubt there are aspects of criminal justice reform that need to be examined and improved - but not for violent offenders. Nobody wants to see violent offenders back on the streets so quickly.

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

They have found election fraud!

https://news.yahoo.com/signatures-hu...013939678.html

More than 300 signatures in a petition to recall Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón last year belonged to dead people, according to the county's Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office.
According to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office, a review of the petition found 367 signatures of people who had died before the recall effort was launched.

The findings were similar to a review of another petition, statewide Initiative 1935, in which county officials found 344 signatures of dead petitioners. The initiative was meant to limit local and state government from expanding, enacting or modifying taxes and fees.
The changes put Gascón not just at odds with many of his own prosecutors and local law enforcement officials, but made him a target of Republican and conservative figures on the national stage who suggested that progressive, or derisively dubbed "woke," prosecutors were to blame for increases in crime.

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

This story makes me fucking sick:

Marine veteran who survived three tours in Iraq, Afghanistan killed driving an Uber in California

https://www.foxnews.com/us/marine-ve...d-driving-uber

The story in of itself is not political, but my thoughts about it likely are.

We need more prisons, not less. Probably won't get a lot of agreement with democrats here.

On the other front, I'm usually pro privatization, but I don't think it's a good thing for prisons. I don't want people to profit off of keeping people in jail who don't need to be there. Greed is a human condition and fucking with people's time on Earth is too risky to allow non-violent offenders to be there 1-day longer than absolutely warranted. But I'm in total support of using tax money to keep evil, violent, fucking scumbags in prison for absolutely no less than what is 100% warranted. For people like whoever did this, they belong in prison until they die.

Trump promises to end war in Ukraine in 24 hours

https://news.yahoo.com/trump-promise...131348960.html

Do you think he can? As much as I think he is scum I don't think trump would take part in a BS war just to get re-elected . If he could end it now he would be re-elected overwhelmingly, so why wait?

"You Can’t Cancel Me, I Quit" WSJ

I disagree with this writers decision to self cancel (because that is what she did she essentially surrendered imo), but her editorial does highlight some of the evils of wokeness that led to her decision.
