(Mega Merged Thread) Redskins-Dallas Game

Even with homefield advantage, I think the Redskins offense and defense will have trouble against the Cowboys. I've pretty optimistic about the Redskins lately, but I think we will have a tough time against Dallas.

On offense, we have limited weapons and the Cowboys have a very good defense. The Cowboys defense will focus first on stuffing Portis since we haven't made it a secret that the running game is "our bread and butter." The Cowboys defense will likely also focus on Moss since we have made it known that Moss is our only true threat at wideout and Patten and Thrash are injured.

On defense, we might be missing out top three corners. Rogers injured one of his pectoral muscles. Walt Harris has a bum calf. Springs has a bad back and groin. If all three are out, that would leave Ade Jimoh as the only healthy corner currently on the team. Jimoh and the safeties would be facing Terry Glenn, Patrick Crayton, and Keyshawn Johnson. Subtract injured Joe Salave'a and LaVar Arrington and add Pro-Bowl tight-end Jason Witten to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster.

Considering our injuries to our offense and defense, is anyone else nervous about the game?

Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups

Ever since the Skins exposed the Cowboys secondary every team they played tried the same deep ball pass. Hell, KC ran the same play this past Sunday and scored a TD. The Cowboys usually stuff the line with R. Williams and if they do, I'm betting we toss the ball to Santana or Cooley. I mean, they can't take all our weapons out...and if Jacobs ever manages to get up for a game it just might be this one.

Dallas had a phase where the deep ball plagued them, but that problem has been resolved

On defense attach Dallas on the edge where Tucker and Petitti reside.

Each is good for giving up a sack or 2 a game.

Line up Griffin over Al Johnson all game and let him overpower Johnson

While Moss will have the most yards receiving, Chris Cooley needs to lead the Skins in receptions--his ability to keep the chains moving and as a quality redzone target is invaluable.

Dallas, under Mike Zimmer, has historically struggle covering the TE

Utilizing the FB in the passing game could also present a problem

with all those injuries, its going to take creative playcalling, and creative use of ALL personnel.

We all know it'll be a stomach-turning, last minute nailbiter, in a 4 o'clock game in December at FedEx, Cowboys vs Redskins, Gibbs vs Parcells, with playoff implications. I just hope we have enough gas in the tank to come up big in the 4th quarter, when this game will be decided.

yeah we can't get tired in the fourth. I view this as an even matchup, and i feel like the difference will be the fans. if we can get loud, we can disrupt their offense, and motivate our defense.

Injuries or not I'll be at the game screaming my head off everytime Dallas has the ball. 12th man will be in attendance! Dallas should be favored and on paper should win this game, but I'll go out on a limb and pick the Washington Redskins to keep their slim playoff hopes alive! GO SKINS and let's get REAL loud Sunday!!!

Ramseyfan, I'm with you man. If we had all starting corners I would REALLY like our chances. But with the possibility of ALL of them being out, I don't feel as optimistic.

The again, barring EXTREME pain, I wouldn't think you could KEEP them out of this game.

Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups

Considering the team is not looking at additional secondary, I have to believe at least a couple of the corners will be available. This game will come down to turnovers and a big play. Whichever team gets no turnovers and that one big play will take this game. I do think they are going to try and get someone we don't expect to be a big contributor who will be our Patrick Crayton from last year, hopefully jacobs does step up and can get over the top and becomes our surprise big play man. I think the players realize the importance of the game and will play through injuries unless they are hurting the team.

Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups

I want the Redskins to come out throwing. We need to put that defense on it's heels quick and change their gameplan.

Defense is where this gets tricky! Do we drop lots of people back to cover those receivers, or do we go after Bledsoe likes he's a 30 year old statue QB? Personally I'd bring pressure and hope to force mistakes rather than let our defensive line get pressure.
