The reality though is this discussion is happening because $620 billion worth of corporate money told 3 major Redskins sponsors to do something about it. If they walk, everyone else won't be far behind. And Dan can't have his new stadium in DC if the name isn't changed. I got $20 that says the name gets changed and DC probably gives the RFK land to the Redskins at a deep discount or for free in exchange for less tax dollars going to the stadium.
If we move back to RFK it would make the name change way more easy to take. Go back to RFK AND NEVER LEAVE THERE AGAIN!!!

There is no way to know the percentage of Native Americans that are offended by it. Do enough research and you find polls that say 80% polled were offended, and polls that will say only 5% said they are offended. How many are offended is irrelevant. Whether it is simply white people offended is irrelevant. Obviously, enough are offended for FedEx and Nike to take a stand and the bottom line is the Redskins and the NFL are a business first and foremost. Just like any other business, if they are doing something that some deem offensive and the company feels it is hurting their bottom-line, they are going to make a change.

As far as "Warriors" actually saw someone suggest it on twitter. Of course, there was a comment from someone saying they did not like "warriors" either because that name is associated with violence. Then added teams like the Raiders, Warriors, Vikings, Buccaneers, Pirates, etc should have to change their names to disassociate from the violent image. I looked at his page and based on what he has posted, he was not being sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek.

It’s only a matter of time before tall people make New York change their name.

Ehhh it’s not 1 in 5, it’s never been. And someone will always be offended by something...that’s also known.

I disagree with Coggs on a few things, but I agree with him it's very hard to come with a definite number on the percentage of Native Americans that are truly offended by the name.

I'm over it. Change the name and let's get on with our lives. Hopefully Rivera brings the winning culture along and we can forget about the last 20 years of shit.

It has nothing to do with White Liberal anything .The things that have been going on have been building for a while now ,personally I don't think the Skins name is Offensive but it is what it is the times being what they are. I say revert back to the Senators ,you can keep the S and people will still refer to the team as Washington and or the Skins any way and the fans and Snyder will get what they want which is a new Stadium in DC itself on the old RFK site.

How do you agree and than point out the fact that he is wrong? We all grew up REDSKINS fans. It sucks that we need to come to this conclusion but it is the right conclusion. 10-20 percent agree because the other 80 fall into the black man using the n word category. If you walked onto any reservation USA tomorrow you would never say yo redskin where is the bathroom? It has racist roots. Plain n simple. Do we as fans mean it in a racist way? No. Not a single one. But again if i started a team tomorrow called the yellow skins with an asian guy as the emblem you would be like dude are u crazy? I think we all just chalk “indians” up to some ancient past that is harmless but it is bigger than that.

If I walked onto a reservation and 8 out of 10 Native Americans said they didn't give a shit or supported the name and 2 didn't like it, I would keep on keepin' on. There's always going to be people offended by something. Should we stop killing and eating animals because PETA is offended? When 8 out of 10 people who identify as Native American aren't offended, that was good enough for me. That's no longer the case. Now it's 20% of Native Americans, the entire Democratic party, District and federal officials who own RFK, and Fedex, Nike, and $620 billion worth of corporate money backing them. It's now overwhelmingly negative, and as such an announcement will be coming soon. I'm not gonna tweak about it when it's gone, and I'm not denying up until March, there was a small group of Native Americans offended by the name. But you're not gonna get an apology out of me either for supporting the name up until now.

Nike and Fed Ex really don't care about the name. They didn't give a damn until the dirty pig killed Floyd. Now all of a sudden they care? 😏 As far as DC their govt is basically retarded. Here you had Marshall's statue up in front of RFK for decades. Then you decide to take it down now when no one goes to the stadium and when it's going to be demolished? Got it.

I would forgive Snyder for all of his mishaps if he came out and said.. " sorry we ain't changing shit and are not going to be pressured into anything"..

And also Ron R has been here 6 minutes and hasn't won a damn game. He should have ZERO say in this..

No dude. It is not. Just because Native Americans have been marginalized doesn’t mean they are extinct. I love how you blame progressives. Lol. The whole controversy started with native American tribes. Read about the history of the name man. At one point it was derogatory. I wish u would all stop playing the I dont hear any Native Americans complaining as if you all are surrounded by them. But forget historical connotations. If i started a team and called it the yellow skins tomorrow and the emblem was an asian person would that be ok? Im gonna answer for you n say no. Forget the intricacies and just look at it in an obvious manner.

Re: Skins getting heat again over name issue

It's really unfortunate, but I think a name change is coming. Money talks...and its writing a thesis right now. The real question is just how stubborn DS is..and for once I hope hes as stubborn as 2013.

If Snyder is a real man. He should refuse to change the name. Tell Nike and FedEx to kiss his ass.
