We painted ourselfs in to a corner so it's going to take time to right the ship!
Exactly -- so we have to start somewhere. You don't look at the list of needs Schneed mentioned, admit that we can't address all of those needs in one draft, and proceed to do nothing about it.

I've got a sick feeling in my gut after hearing the news that the offer is official. If the front office didn't like any of the options at #6, then you trade down.

The way it stands, somebody with a lot of value could still be there at #6. Once we lose that spot, our draft situation goes from bad to worse.

Get ready for very different results.

I need a big-bodied DT who can eat up space. I don't need 8 sacks out of him. 1 sack is fine, as long as he clogs the run. And I need a safety with some speed and youth on his side. He doesn't need to be huge, he doesn't need to have Ed Reed's ball hawking skills. He just needs to be younger than our current guys, and play with ferocity and speed.

I don't need superstars. I NEED A TEAM.
You may not need super stars but you need to look at facts. The Redskins have had poor drafts when it comes to the 2nd thru 4th picks. Yes they have some hits like Dockery,Cooley[cost more picks to get him]Betts and Smoot. The failers over the last six draft are Rosenfels,White,Harrison and Moore. So the likeyhood of filling all three needs is NOT good. Dose that mean you don't try no. But if you only have one pick and you are so poor at the draft it's not hard to see why the Briggs and the 31st pick for the 6th would look good to the Redskins FO. I still say it isn't enough and a 2nd or 3rd draft pick is in order. You way is the way of most NFL team but not they way our team gose about it. I staring to see get as many draft picks as you can and the higer the better and hope you hit on haft of them!

Did the Skins make the offer or did the Bears? I'm not listening to ESPN radio so I have no idea.

This is really terrible. We need a Vice President of Common Sense in Ashburn really badly.

Too true my friend. However the way I look at it is heres what we had to look at. Either get a Pro Bowl Defensive Playmaker and a defensive starter or get three starters. Personally I would rather take the first option.

ugh. and i thought the skins were doing so well. if that #31 pick doesn't turn into a pro-bowl DL guy, and okoye/carriker/adams/branch do, I won't forgive this one.

best DE at that spot is hoping anderson really falls off :/.

A few mock drafts have him fall out of the first round. I guess his pro day went bad.

Any chance Branch falls that far? The way he's talked about here, it seems people absolutely hate him now.

How excited are Bears fans about this deal right now? You lose a guy who plans on sitting out this season anyways and you move up 25 spots to the #6 pick, which you can then use to get an instant starter or you can trade to someone like Denver for even more picks.

Your forgetting that Lamar Woodly, Charles Johnson, and Anthony Spencer will probably be around at #31. Personally Woodly sounds perfect for us. Check this out.

LaMarr Woodley
DE | (6'1", 269, 4.67) | MICHIGAN

Scouts Grade: 87

Flags: (B: BULK/SIZE) Lacks size/bulk for positionView by: Round | Player | NCAA School | Position | NFL Team | Flag | All Ranked Players | NFL Draft History You are signed into Insider and have access to the exclusive draft content below.
Strengths: Possesses good bulk for his shorter frame and excellent top-end speed. He is at his best when turned loose up-the-field. Does a good job of finding the ball and quickly disengaging in order to pursue. He never gives up on a play and he displays an outstanding motor. He has improved his strength and did a much better job anchoring when teams ran at him as a senior in 2006. He shows excellent first-step quickness and is extremely disruptive as a pass rusher. He is a powerful tackler with a mean streak. Impact player that always seems to be in on the big play.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal height. Has trouble stacking at the line of scrimmage versus taller, bigger offensive tackles. He has experience dropping into coverage but he's far more effective when turned loose up-the-field. He's a bit stiff in the hips and might not be fluid enough to make the move to linebacker in the NFL. Minor durability issues after missing time in 2005 with forearm injury.

Overall: Woodley played in all 13 games (two starts) at defensive end during his true freshman season in 2003 and finished the year with 23 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks. He then played in 12 games (10 starts) at outside linebacker in 2004, registering 70 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, four sacks, and three forced fumbles. In 2005, Woodley played in 11 games (eight starts) at "rush linebacker" but missed time in three games with a forearm injury. For the year, he recorded 48 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, one fumble recovery, and three forced fumbles. Woodley started all 13 games in 2006 making 36 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, recording 12 sacks, forcing four fumbles, and recovering four fumbles, including one he took 54 yards for a touchdown against Notre Dame (9/16). Woodley, who played defensive end in a 4-3 scheme and outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme at Michigan, is a classic fit as a rush-linebacker in the NFL. He lacks ideal height and will struggle taking on blocks from bigger offensive tackles in the NFL. However, Woodley bulked up and became much stronger versus the run in 2006. He also displays the speed, power and vicious mentality it takes to succeed as a versatile starter in the proper scheme at the next level. Woodley improved his draft stock with a productive senior season and should be off the board in the top-40 overall picks of the 2007 draft.
---------------------------------------------------------------

He tackles plays well against the run and can goes after the QB with reckless abandon. What more do you want?

Don't do it! We FINALLY have a high draft pick again (we had to trade for Campbell) and we should hang onto it or at least trade down less than 5 spots to get another good pick.

Briggs doesn't sound like much of a team player...we don't need another Lavar personality who thinks he's bigger than the team.

You watch: Not only will all the top DL prospects be long gone, but the second tier DL guys will be gone by #31 too.

True to form, we have F*%#ed our defensive line AGAIN.
