Redskinsrat, using the scientific process to guide your judgement, what order would you assign to the following with regards to their likelihood of existence:

Bigfoot
Jesus Christ
Intelligent alien life visiting Earth within the last 2,013 years

Worse than ignorance is willful ignorance.

There's no point in talking to someone whose mind is so closed.

Exposure to pesticides in food, air and water increases risk of type 2 diabetes, says new study | National Monitor

Quote:
Researchers discovered that people with higher concentrations of DDE – the main metabolite in the pesticide DDT – are four times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than other people. The risk of type 2 diabetes is also linked to exposure to β-HCH (beta-Hexachlorocyclohexane), which is found in the formula of the pesticide Lindano.

Agreed. I have always said the mind is by far the biggest weapon on the planet. Amazing how it can turn one man into a mass murder and another man into a brilliant scientist.

Small-molecule drug drives cancer cells to suicide : Nature News & Comment

Anybody who's suffered through cancer or had a loved one die from it, you'll be happy to see progress in the fight against cancer. Huge news I'd say.

I hope we see a cure in our lifetime, or at least a very significant advancement in treatment.

I was listening to Science Friday on NPR and there was talk about how caffeine's influence changes as you age. The gist I took from it was that as I age I get to drink more wine with dinner to counter balance the increased effects of my one cup of coffee. Science of Slumber: How Sleep Affects Your Memory

Report: Russian meteor blast injures at least 1,000 people - CNN.com

Pretty incredible watching this meteor blazing through the sky.

Just in time to see the big boy that's going to bypass us.

Quote:
Asteroid DA14 is due to fly past Earth in a few hours. It's 50 metres across and will pass just 17,100 miles above our heads. Although there is no danger of a collision, it's still passing much closer than any other known asteroid and closer than many man made satellites.

NASA will be doing a live stream of the asteroid as it passes us by, so don't despair if it won't be visible from your area. The stream will begin at 19:00 GMT/14:00 EST/11:00 PST. You'll be able to watch it here:

Anxiety drugs may lead to behavior changes in fish. The bigger concern is that despite our best efforts many pharmaceuticals are making their way into our drinking water. At least tap is still cleaner than bottled water.
