Funny you should mention Trotter because there is an interesting parallel here.

Recall how the Skins got to sign Trotter to that big deal - - at the time. Trotter had been given the "franchise tag" by the Eagles and he was pissed about that. He and Andy Reid had a public war of words and when Reid refused to take off the franchise tag - - or to guarantee in the one-year deal that he would not use it on Trotter again the next year - - Trotter made a real annoyance of himself.

Once Reid and DC Jim Johnson realized that they had a viable back-up at MLB, the Eagles took the tag off of Trotter and let him become a free agent.

The Skins signed him and asked him to do something he had never shown he could do well in his entire NFL career - - pass coverage. After a while, that did not work out here and the Skins cut him. Where did he go? Back to Andy Reid who told Trotter they had a job for him doing what he was suited to do - - but at a much lower rate of pay. Trotter took the job and spent a couple more years in the league.

Andy Reid and his coaches made a decision on Trotter to franchise him. They stuck to it; they never insulted him or humilated him - - but they franchised him and never wavered on how they were going to do business with him. When the Trotter/Redskins marriage fell apart, there was a professional relationship still in place for Reid and Trotter to act upon.

I seriously doubt that is the case with Shanahan/Haslett/Haynesworth/whomever...

Trotter was simply not the headache that AH was. But he played like crap here, for what ever reason...

Yeah not sure I see much of a real connection between Trotter and AH.

Might be more accurate to compare how Reid dealt with T.O.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

I had a dream last night that Fat Albert was in my local bar...he was having a beer and he ordered wings. As soon as he bit into the second chicken leg he choked on it. I woke up before having the chance to help him. I wonder if this dream has any meaning.

That depends on how long you watched him choke before you woke up

Was he actually choking in the middle of the field for about 7 seconds?

I say hang on to him and bury him on the depth chart. Put him on the practice squad, treat him like crap until he quits and bows out of his contract.

Ironically I was choking on Sunday, well maybe it's not ironic. But while watching the game at a bar with my cousin I felt like a true Redskin because I literally starting choking. My cousin had to do the heimlich on me, it was pretty crazy

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

In the end, Haynesworthcouldn't be forced to care
"I've been doing this a long time and one thing you know is you want players committed to your team," Shanahan says. "Playing for each other, and not for themselves. Playing to do the best they can to help the team win. They're all different. Some won't practice when they're feeling bad, and some will. Some will give you everything on every play. And it's my job to make sure to put best team together, people who are committed to each other. The teams I've been on that won Super Bowls, that won championships, they have one thing in common. They knew how to win, and the team was made up of the right people."

Jim Haslett Takes Turn Criticizing Albert Haynesworth's Work Ethic, Maturity -- NFL FanHouse

"I think Mike made the right decision to make him inactive," Haslett said. "We know over the years, based off what we saw last year in film, when he doesn't practice well or he doesn't show up for Christmas -- -- whatever the situation is -- then he doesn't play well. ...
