Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?

If we do trade down to 31 we need to consider Lamar Woodly. Hes a quick DE that was very stout against the run. We should aslo look at Anthony Spencer (Purdue), Charles Johnson (Georgia), and Justin Harell (Tenn.)

The best way to go is add mutliple athletes because we have multiple holes. There is no argument otherwise.
I think there is......Lets say by some luck we do hit a great player with the six pick. I would be ok with that. What are the odds so so. But to hit three is so unlikely. Just look how long it has been for the Redskins to get three great players in one draft. A long time and they haven't been hitting lower picks at all. The best you can say is Piece and he was a free agent not drafted as well not even signed by this group in FO! You are right moving down for most team would be the move but after last year dose our FO have it in them to make one player in to three?

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?

I don't think this will happen. I haven't looked at the whole thread but here goes.

Let's look at what we have: Washington, LF, Rocky as our starters, right?

So we are going to give up on Rocky after 1 season to sign Briggs? Doesn't make alot of sense. Right now our lb's look pretty good. It's our secondary, dline, oline that needs some work.

I really, really doubt it. Briggs is a great young player, but it's kind of like signing 3-4 good wr's and not having anyone to throw them the ball. Oh yeah, we did do that.

Are you satisfied with Todd Yoder as your backup TE?

Are you satisfied with our pass rush off the End? Regardless of how you feel about Carter (I think he looked good at the end of the year), how much longer do you think Daniels and Wynn can be effective? Are they even effective enough for your tastes when healthy?

Do you trust Kedric Golston (290 pounds) to improve against the run enough to enable us to get back to blitzing on 2nd and 8 and 3rd and 6? Remember, if we're in 2nd and 6 and 3rd and 3 all the time, we can't blitz much, can we.

How much longer can Cornelius Griffin (30 yrs old) hold up? What happens to us if he gets hurt?

And you want Lance Briggs and the 31st???
Point well taken and you are so right. But one pick is not going to change this. Not even one draft with all you picks[what we don't have by the way] It's going to take at least two drafts to over come what you have posted! We painted ourselfs in to a corner so it's going to take time to right the ship!

Our D line does need to be addressed, which it will, just later in the draft. The draft is deep enough we can get a quality player. There may be something in the works we do not know about yet. I can't believe the number of people that are all for signing aged up LB or OLINE men, but when a 26 year old beast LB comes available for essentially nothing, people are bashing it. Yes it will cost us, yes Rocky will sit, but that is just a move that can't be ignored. That side of our D was consistantly run all over.
rocky has not even had the chance to show it on the field. let the guy develop instead of giving up on him so damn early in his career. remember we gave up a 2nd rounder just to move up and pick the guy. at least give him the chance to show it on the field, give the guy a full training camp at least. jeez, what is it w/ our coaching staff that is so damn afraid to play young players when everyone else in the nfl does it???

I don't need 3 superstars out of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounder. I need a Derrick Dockery at Guard, a guy who was by no means spectacular, but could run block and got the job done. I need a big-bodied DT who can eat up space. I don't need 8 sacks out of him. 1 sack is fine, as long as he clogs the run. And I need a safety with some speed and youth on his side. He doesn't need to be huge, he doesn't need to have Ed Reed's ball hawking skills. He just needs to be younger than our current guys, and play with ferocity and speed.

I don't need superstars. I NEED A TEAM.

Anyone got odds on us throwing in a 2008 pick to seal the deal?

But we have an owner who just wants to sell jerseys. We have an owner who just has to always make a big splash. We have an owner who has no clue how to win. And it looks like we have a coach/ team pres. that's just along for the ride.

I agree with this, but we will never get that much. The skins pick is 1600 points, the Bears first 2 picks total 1130. That trade would basically put a 470 point value on Briggs which is equivilent to the 43rd pick in the draft. The Bears will never accept a mid 2nd round pick for Briggs. Basically we get screwed one way they get screwed the other way...why don't we all just walk away!

We have to look on the bright side. The last Bears Pro Bowl linebacker we added was Wilbur Marshall. Look how that turned out.
