To be fair, Doug is really just a glorified figurehead so being a scapegoat is his main job.

If he hadn’t been a great redskins QB and have ties to Tampa, he wouldn’t have a job here.

I’m not saying he’s worse than Bruce - just pointing out that they’re both unqualified for their jobs.

I wish Allen would go and Doug Williams, Kyle Smith, and Eric Schaffer would run the whole show.....

Re: House Cleaning put on hold....

Listening to the 54th episode of Cooley's podcast... At some point he tried to back down a little bit on the idea that Jay was "a bad play caller" (that the 2 previous episodes definitely strengthened) saying it was not "all on Jay"...
But then he's been on a rant for several minutes saying this offense looks like someone having no idea what they want to do with their house and trying to patch ideas of design and furniture they saw at their neighbours' houses and that in the end nothing matches with the rest and basically the house looks like an ugly mess...
This puts a good a image on the general feeling that this offense didn't have any flow to itself last year.

Couldn't agree more.

Cooley is on the money with the tendencies and how our runs don't look anything like our passes so no defense is fooled on play action.

I wonder (total speculation) if Jay named Callahan as the run game coordinator because he knew how big an S show it was .

Sheehan has said Callahan and Jay were any arranged marriage many times.

I don't know, but what I do know is I want Jay gone after next season.

On top of being a mediocre leader and motivator, he obviously doesn't know what he's scheming.
I think he does a good job of getting guys open in the passing game, but our running game's a joke and it's now clear that the offensive scheme as a whole doesn't make much sense.

Re: House Cleaning put on hold....

Cooley did a 2018 Redskins 3rd down analysis ...

And again, there are some ridiculous tendencies, I'll just say one that seems incredibly laughable to me: on "basic 3rd down plays" (basically that excludes redzone, 2min and some of the 4 min offense), despite being pressured more than 50% of the time, the Redskins ran only 12 screens... 11 of which where on 3 down and 14 or more...

How big of a tendency is that ? That you only screen on 3rd down when there's 14 yards or more to gain ?

The really odd thing is that Jay was a really good play caller in Cincy.... what happened to him?

His talent dropped off a bit here compared to Andy Dalton and AJ Green.

And we put up great offensive stats when we had Cousins, Garcon, DJax, Crowder, etc. Scoring was still an issue, but the play calling hasn't been terrible at all times.

It was a different style of play calling with quick game.

The differences in talent doesn't explain the terrible play calling tendencies.

Gruden's problem isn't play calling....his biggest problem is being very easy for opposing teams to prepare for....those Bengals offenses had slightly better personnel than the Redskins teams he's coached....his play calling is predictable 65% of the time....if you notice Gruden was 2-1-1 against the afc north in 2016, the division he used to coach in....but in the nfc that year Gruden was 6-6.......teams in the nfc conference know how to prepare for him.

What was truly infuriating from the pod was that the play calling did nothing to protect a banged up offensive line.

Screens, boots, sliding the pocket were non existent.

Cooley was baffled at allowing the defense to tee off on the lineman over and over with no surprises or changes.

The #Redskins are eligible for Hard Knocks but Jay Gruden thinks HBO would be crazy not to choose his brother.

Gruden: They can do us next year

Reporter: Not if you make the playoffs

Gruden: If we don't make the playoffs, I probably won’t be here anyway

LMAO

Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are former TV Sports personalities. It'd be foolish for HBO to pass on that IMO.

I think the Redskins have a boring dysfunction.

Yeah, as much as I'd love to get an inside look at our team the Raiders make way too much sense here.

Gruden/Mayock/AB/3 First Round draft picks/Flamboyant owner... I really can't think of a better team to put on the show.

Everyone of note on the Raiders will still be with the team next year... plus the team will be moving to L.A. IMO It would be foolish for HBO to go with the Raiders this year when they should be an even better to cover them next year.
