Well, that's nice to hear. Now we just need Polumbus to shut Miller down, and someone to knock Manning out, and we're golden.

His mid-2000's offense with Marvin Harrison, young Reggie Wayne, and Edge James was pretty doggone sick.

I would argue that Marvin Harrison/ Wayne / Edgerin James/ dallas clark / jeff saturday / etc rosters were better.

Especially in 2004. And perhaps that offense could equal this one. One thing's for certain, though: Edgerrin James and Marvin Harrison were better than any weapons Manning's got now. The only thing is, he has more weapons at his disposal now.

Through the first several games of this season, I would have argued vehemently that you were wrong. Lately, however, the Broncos' offense hasn't looked as good as it did in the first few games, so you might be right.

Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread

Local radio here in Denver area seems to think Peyton sitting out for his "ankle injury" is only part of the story, speculating that the amount of throws he is making this year taking its toll on his residual neck/arm/nerve conditions.

I am not sure if anyone posted this already, but Sally Jenkins wrote a pretty good article about his surgery/rehab.

Peyton Manning on his neck surgeries rehab — and how he almost didn’t make it back - The Washington Post

I'm not sure I buy that there is more to him sitting out than just the ankle injury, but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

Hey what better week to get him rest than the week leading up to the out of conference matchup with the lowly Redskins.

I hope we surprise them. Would love some bragging rights around here. They might as well have already won the superbowl the way these Bronco fans are talking (much like last year before they lost to the Ravens). Figured they would have learned their lesson...

Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread

Before you pick the Skins to win this game, pretend that you're betting your mortgage money on it. You might find that very hard to do. I know I would.

As much as I'd love the Skins to win, it would come as a great and pleasant surprise to me if they beat the Broncos. That's because I think the Skins would need to play a near perfect game to just eke out a win in Denver.

Nevertheless, hope springs eternal! If the Skins should win this game, I think it would be such a big boost to team confidence that it could turn around their entire season.

Manning generally hasn't taken vet days off, in fact he usually is a rep hog.

I would pick like I was betting the mortgage on it IF I was betting the mortgage on it, but I am not so I will stick my neck out and go with the Skins to keep it close, and win it at the end. That said, it may come down to special teams, and that would not be good for us.

Could be, his throws just didn't seem right vs the Colts. He's never thrown the prettiest ball or had the biggest arm, but he definitely seemed a little off.

A question to anyone: What are your thoughts on who our starting safeties will be?

The coaches need to look at this game and realize that we cannot (not just hope that we won't) give up field position and (heaven forbid) points on ST's.

Trindon Holliday may be the best return man in the NFL right now. The Skins coaches should accept the fact that, against our kick coverage, he represents a clear and present danger. Accordingly, they should take extraordinary measures to avoid another ST disaster this week.

That's why I said before that the Skins should punt the ball out of bounds, even if the punts are short.

Also, it might be a good idea to activate Potter to ensure that all kickoffs go through the end zone and are not returned. Plus, we might need him to kick a 60 yard FG (in the thin air of Denver) in this one.

If you think I'm over-reacting, remember this:

- We barely beat Oakland after giving up a TD on a blocked punt.
- We lost to Dallas in large part because we gave up two long returns that led to Dallas TD's.
- Just last week, we let Chicago back in the game by giving up a TD on a return.
- Our return game has been pathetic all season, contributing to poor field position.

For our coaches to say that our ST's have improved and then hope for the best is not a proper plan. They might as well just keep their fingers crossed and pray.
