Not to mention the fact that it's nonsensical "logic". Nowhere did Andrews say that only 55% of backs are still in the league 2 years after surgery because of overuse. Those backs aren't in the league 2 years later because the average length of an NFL player's career is only 3 years. So naturally after two years, half will be out of the NFL just by the law of averages. The quality of the player even before the injury has just as much to do with that stat as anything else. Guys who sucked in the first place will be out of the league quick. Guys like Griffin and AP, well, WON'T!

It should be noted that Griffin is not a juke you out of your shoes type runner. He's more of a straight line speed guy. The only thing you worry about is burst of acceleration with him.

There's a reason why Andrews says what he does about Griffin and running, he's the best sports doctor there is and he understands that RG3 can't take the punishment of big hits in the NFL, he's basically saying if u want him for many years u better not run him as much, let's b honest one more knee and he's probably done .

The other part about running backs, is those guys are judged on runnin ability, blocking assignments, chips, and running pass routes.

If he loses a step ok, that sucks, but he is a QB whose primary job is to throw the football and run when necessary. Even throwing a read option or three into the game isn't going to kill him or injure him.

Beautiful article. Any person needs time to recover from any kind of surgery. I hope that he and team officials have learned their lessons.

This is a man who will once again comfortably carry the weight of the franchise."

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months

WTF point is there to having a QB if you decide to only use some of his skills? GD some of you don't make sense. He's a QB who can run...it's part of his game...learn to deal. He's going to run. Always.

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months

He has to recover from surgery on both knees, a piece of bone and tendon from his left knee were needed for the reconstruction.

RGIII’s former surgeon says QB could return for start of 2013 season

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months

How weird is it that a Skins player from our 1991 SB run became a surgeon, and then was the surgeon who operated on RG3's first ACL injury?

All the planets aligned. My biggest worry is what they talk about in the article. RGIII is SO highly motivated that he will try and push too hard and actually do more harm than good. I couldn't believe reading about his first ACL tear in college and he would sit in a chair and throw passes to his father for hours.
