Miami didn't draft Quinn....I figured for sure they would've taken him.

Re: The Official 2007 Draft Discussion Thread
Doesn't it feel like this pick was made because it was the most obvious and least likely to get us ridiculed by NFL commentators, rather than making a move we think would help us the most, even if it might be riskier or more of a waste of such a high pick?

Re: The Official 2007 Draft Discussion Thread
Have to admit I have mixed emotions. We really needed a DE or DT very badly, but to be honest if I was in the FO I would have been tempted also to get Landry. Sure we have ST, but what if this guy is another ST? A 4 year starter at LSU is pretty damn good in my opinion and a definite upgrade at safety over Prioleau. In short my Redskin brethren, all is not lost. I think Landry is going to be the real deal for us and well worth the pick. Tomorrow is where it is going to get really interesting.

I had that thought too. They were stuck at 6 and felt they had to get "value". They probably could have traded down but didn't for similar reasons. They don't want to look like they got taken, even though the results for them might have been marginally better. For example, you may be better off with a low 1st and a 3rd, even though the pundits might be left scratching their heads. You can help the DL with the low 1st and with the 3rd, well Cooley was taken in the 3rd. You have to do what's best for your team which by the way was 31st on defense last year.

Re: The Official 2007 Draft Discussion Thread
Quinn falling doesn't surprise me b/c he is a product of the system guy. Landry makes me nervous b/c if u notice all of his highlite reels are of blitzes where an O-linemen doubles a d-linemen and he finds a crease. There are barely any clips of him in coverage AND with our D-line i don't know how many teams are going to double griff or daniels to create those kinds of creases. My prediction is that we are going to trade into the 2nd or 3rd round to get a D-lineman or guard.
