Smoot, are you hearing that this deal will have any connection with a VJ trade?

I am not talking about a big body to clog the middle. Hayensworth fills that role, non of of other DL can run over another top OL.
I want us to be careful not become Vinny Cerrato-like having a million WR's thinking a young WR is the magic pill that will solve all of our problems and no depth at other positions.
That makes (by my count) three of us. As much of pain in the ass Albert Haynesworth is, I shudder to think what our run defense is going to look like this year without him. Judging by what we've seen through exhibition, if I'm an opponent of the Redskins this year, all I do is run, run, and run some more. Run it right down their throats.

Then you have to examine what impact his loss will be to the double digit sack totals we had last year with Andre Carter and Brian Orakpo.

Sometimes you have to put up with the talented problem child to win in this league.

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth

Two of the top three draft picks in this draft were unproven power DT's just like Haynesworth.
These types of players are a commodity and we should give not ours away for a 5th and a 3rd or a 2nd.
I would rather wait and keep him this year and trade him when a team calls desperate to make a playoff push or next off season.
Getting rid of him to make some kind of 'Shanahan is a he-man pound on my chest statement' is stupid and does not make good football and business sense.
The whole distraction thing is over blown.
He is in shape and ready to play. Lets use him.....hell we paid for him, lets get some return. Put our pride a side for a minute.

People have to remember that Shanny is the man!

he made us throw in a 2nd rounder in the portis/bailey trade.

Shanny is shrewd...We aren't trading fal for a conditional 2048 draft pick...lol

Hell..if anything,it will be the redskins getting Kenny britt,Will witherspoon and a 3rd rounder for fat al....lololol

Just remember that guys...lol

j/k

There will be a major problem with the D if Big Al gets traded .. however there is already a big problem if he stays .. for all the reasons we have read about, watched on tv, seen in person over the past 6 months it just seems like it needs to end ... i already smell a major problem with the Dallas game this week .. to much Albert talk should be ALL ABOUT BEATING DALLAS AND WE WANT DALLAS ... F' all this noise about Big Al ...

We will be vulnerable if he is dumped for low round picks.
That is exactly right.

Some people may not know but John Riggins was banished from the Jets for being a douchebag flake and he came here and was floundering until Gibbs arrived. Riggins even sat out a year in dispute with the team before Gibbs arived.
Dave Butz never ever participated in any offseason work outs or weight lifting regimen or Kumbaya events even though new coach Gibbs had just showed up and rallied everyone but Butz and Riggins to participate.
By todays' Shanahan standards they would be called malcontents and be black balled. Gibbs accepted them as is and won. There is no right and wrong in dealing with very talented problem childs just right and left.

As others have stated this defense will siffer with the loss of AH. There is no one on the roster who posseses his skill set.

The run game and pass rush will suffer from this dude being gone.

Preach....I'd be, already am, very nervous about lining up Maake at NT for considerable time. From what I saw this summer, he's not ready. Don't know if it's that he's not fully healthy or what but if the Skins do plan on shipping Big Al out I hope they have another plan other than Maake

F him, we're winning whether he's on the field or not.
So based on what you've seen, you're not at all worried about rushing defense without AH in the lineup?

There are some things, like our running game for instance, that I'm comfortable with, even though it hasn't looked stellar so far. I can't say the same for rushing defense. With Barber, Choice, and Jones coming into town Sunday night, I'm afraid they might churn out 200 yards on the ground against us. But with AH, I'd feel safe in saying our prospects are much better.

Doc Walker is lighting up "the source" regarding the AH deal. It's hilarious and he is pissed. Said, he would like to kick the sources ass. Ha ha, DOC is on fire.

Truth...
I said it before. This notion that you have to treat everyone the same and manage them all similarly is garbage. Good managers manage people individually. Obviously Shanny wants to turn some things around. But I doubt at this point any player would mistakenly believe that the inmates are running the joint if Shanny gave in a little to get the situation on the tracks.

The assumption that you are making (and I believe it is an incorrect one), is that Albert will suddenly turn it on when the games count. The reality is that AH is pissed about the system, doesn't like his new coach, feels insulted, and has no motivation to play since he's already been paid. It really doesn't matter to him and he has made that clear. He has made it perfectly clear that he is going to be a PITA until he is dealt, so why would he play hard?

To assume that he will suddenly become a beast once the scores are counted is a pretty huge assumption given what we know about this guy at this point. After the Cards game, I think Shanahan feels that he can't count on AH to play and if you can't count on the guy to actually play when it matters, why the world would you put up with the other crap he brings?

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth

I'm hoping Haynesworth plays in the opener, because without him, I can see Dallas' trio of RB's running wild Sunday night. Say what you want about Albert's play last year, but it's foolish to think that his presence doesn't make the front 7 better.
