Shanny doesn't like the guy and I'm sure, at this point, the feeling is mutual. If the right deal comes along, let's just cut ties and keep it moving.

Over the past several seasons, the Redskins have had stellar defenses with less talent playing at the DT position. So I'm not buying the hype we should shuffle the deck to keep one guy happy. If Haynesworth wants to be happy, ship his tired ass back to Tennessee. Seriously. I'm really getting sick of this whole story.
it's not just about AH

it's about our DEs, LBs, lack of NT, etc

We have all of the D-line components to be successful. Part of the reason teams like the 3-4 aside from the advantages of the scheme itself are two fold. First the 3-4 on average is cheaper since you have less D-Lineman who these days are usually paid a premium (case in point "Fatal Bert" lol) and linebackers from a cost perspective are usually a dime a dozens, at least the ones that don't go after the passer. The D-Lineman themselves are easier to find because you don't need them to be ultra successful pass rushers, rather you're looking for 3 guys that can play hard and usually control gaps.

Sure our D-Line wont' be close to the Pat's with Warren and Wilfork without Haynesworth but thats something we can deal with. Also I came up with an interesting comparison for finding 3-4 players using the O-Line. The D-Lineman are equivalent to finding interior lineman (Guards and Centers), the ILB's are as important as RT's, and the LT of the 3-4 is most likely the OLB, especially one capable of rushing the passer.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works

well I think that we have questions at at least 1 ILB spot, 1 OLB spot.. much of the line..

none of our LBs are particularly strong against the pass and they will have to drop back here and there

I'm not opposed to us eventually changing I just think that taking Haynesworth out of the equation makes one more huge hole to fill

It's not like the team didn't know who they were dealing with or what his demands were when they signed the guy. Snyder should have realized this when he hired Allen and Shanahan.

Anybody know how Anthony Montgomery and Kedric Golston fit in? I remember reading that Montgomery was actually on the bubble last time around.

^ Perhaps Golston can be capable as a 3-4 DE.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works

[QUOTE=jdc65;688855]I totally expect Haynesworth to be dealt on day 2 of the draft. I think they will accept a 3rd rd pick if Albert pays any of his bonus back. I think Tennessee is the most likely destination, and will re-imburse Haynesworth a few million. Tennessee has the 77th pick, and they may include a 6th rounder, 185. I believe ShanAllen will take that.

If Detroit takes Okung, then maybe they have a plan in place to acquire Albert with a 2nd, 34th, with no payback of Albert's bonus.[/QUOTE
If we can not get a 1st round pick or two 2nd round picks than no way should we trade AH. We paid him thus far 31 million for 1 season so no way we give him away for peanuts.

I would hope that Marshall's deal would set the bar for any deal on AH. I don't want to trade him, but I will say Detroit's 2nd, and conditional 2nd/3rd next year would be tempting.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works

Our defense last season was average at best. Our D could not force a turnover and stop teams when the game was on the line. Our defense got ran over and gave up to many big pass plays. Right now I'm concerned about our LBers for the 3-4 defense, only Orakpo maybe best suited for this scheme. London is getting old fast maybe Chris Wilson will surprise in the 3-4 defense as a pass rusher. I rather keep AH unless we got a 1st round pick or two 2nd round picks. If not I rather keep Big AH. Let him earn his money.

In Saint country the rumors are running wild about a trade for AH involving OT Brown and a 4th with another pick next yr. Anyone else hear anything on this??

Montgomery has been up and down. I remember one year (I think it was 07) that he flat out beat Golston going into the season. All accounts say he has big time talent, if he worked like Golston we wouldn't have had to sign Godzilla last year.

I didn't hear anything about it, but I would take that trade. A stud LT with a 4th this year, and a conditional pick next year. That works for me.

I have been saying this for a little while now. LBs are the lifeblood of a 3-4 and I think we are extremely deficient there. Now Rocky is out the door? Who the hell is covering a tight end for us at the LB spot? Orakpo can do it well enough but that is wasting his talent.

We need A. Thomas and probably a couple more quality LBs if we really think we can run the 3-4 and be as good as our 4-3 was last year.

Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works

That would help both teams. I could imagine Brown and Okung on the Oline for the Skins.
Could you imagine the Saints D Line? Wow, AH,Ellis,Smith and Brown. Im sure Coach Williams is stomping on someones desk for this to happen if it is in the works.
